I had a great visit to Palm Court a month ago but last night was very disappointing indeed. Our table was booked for 8pm and despite being relatively early a number of starters were unavailable. However we were not told this until after we had placed our order and then the waitress returned twice to say that our choice was unavailable...very poor. A different waitress then approached us to say her colleague was wrong and we could have our original choices.. very confusing and led to a delay in us receiving our starters.
Our starters were good (especially the French onion soup) although they arrived at different times. Our plates were whisked away and we then had 25 minute wait for our main. The waitress only updated us and apologised for the delay 3 minutes before we received our order. The waitresses all seemed stressed, unapproachable and very busy although it wasn't a particularly busy evening. With regards to the mains my boyfriend enjoyed his steak however I ordered the chicken and it was more bone than meat..
Finally, we booked with toptable and they were aware of this when we came in however the 50% discount was not applied to our bill. Fortunately this was addressed very quickly.
I appreciate that every restaurant has a bad day, however, I felt that it failed on the very basic standard of customer service on this occasion and left a bad taste in my mouth.

The food was fantastic. The baked brie looked the best to me, but the oysters were also very good in terms of starters.
The duck breast in peppercorn sauce was cooked to perfection and the potato dauphinoise was morish. The only thing lacking a little was service with a smile, the waiting on staff seemed a little stressed and pushed for time and frankly a little annoyed at the customers' presence. This only helps to create a more authentic French feel!

We were in a rush to have dinner before a show, and were expecting mediocre fare purely due to the location of the restaurant (slap bang in the middle of covent garden). Pleasantly surprised. Very pleased with service and quality of steak frites. Quite reasonable with the set menu offer as well.

We came on new years day for late lunch or just before the show at 5:00pm at the ROP and we found this place to be remarkable upstanding in quality and service. We orderer the Soup of Day, Calamari Fritti, Special Chicken Breast ans the house steak with frittes. As we were rushing, the waitress kindly took notice on the time and made us feel really confortable during our stay. Also the wine recomended made up our expectation to a nice finish. Next time we'll came back a bit early, so we can enjoy a more relaxing evening and perhaps some desserts. A service charge is not included making a good example for the industry and a perfect place to eat in Covent Garden just before or after the show.

Give one credit where it's due. We so often complain about poor quality in restaurants and bad service, but how many of us ever give them any praise?
Palm Court Brasserie, a big thank you to you for a fantastic evening we had on Monday 26th October 2009. Great food and a really friendly efficient waitress (Grace). You made our evening and you exceeded our expectations. We will recommend by word of mouth and will definitely be back.

I am only writing this because I noticed the Palm Court made it to top 10 bookable.
I went to the Palm Court a few months ago and it is fair to say I personally think it is one of the worst restaurants I ever went to! either I have missed something or these reviews may not be as independent as everyone thinks...
Anyway we had the paella (arguably we were a little bit naive...) and it was horrible, when the staff went to collect our plates they asked whether we enjoyed it and I said that we thought there was a major problem with the food. Our comments were totally ignored, no excuses were made, and the bill came with a 12 or 15% service charge. I have no intention to return!

Went on Thursday evening with 9 workmates. Had a great time. Food and service were excellent - staff very friendly and attentive. No long waits for food or drink, which is usually unheard of when there are 10 of you and especially as they were packed. Good atmosphere and not noisy, so we could talk. Half went for the fixed price menu - very acceptable, with good choices and at a good price. Others went for A La Carte - also very good. Overall a lovely evening and we will be going again.
