I've eaten at Palm Court on several occasions over the past few years, and have always received a warm welcome, the service swift and friendly and the food of excellent quality - The french onion soup is my favourite starter and is delicious and steaming hot. I dined here on New Years Eve 2011 and had a beautiful meal with my partner, the staff were under pressure as the were extremely busy, but were very attentive as usual! G

reat evening, excellent food and service. Well done Palm Court, thank you - we will be back again soon.

unfortunatelly not good experience... booking for set sunday lunch, waiting 30 min till even water arrived at the table to warm wine ... ignorant & even rude waiter, not trained manager on duty...

avarage starters (chicken pate !!!! not foie gras parfait), overcooked & burned veggies coming with roast mains... found strings inside meat (and beef and pork)!!!! not proffesional kitchen, couldnt find any presentation of food on my plate, no taste...

cheap, but not worth any penny, not coming back for sure!

I went to this restaurant on Wednesday night with my boyfriend. I was quite dissapointed from the beginning.

They booked with a completely wrong name. Thankfuly, they recognised me from a tastelondon card.

Furthermore, we had to wait starters and main each coming more than 30mins. So we finished our bottle of wine before the mains turned up.

Even I ordered The Whole seabream but the waiter told me 30 mins later I ordered, the dish had finished and I had to order the different one.

Definitely not recommend and of course not going again.

Have read some good reviews before booking for dinner here and hence was surprised by the appalling service and below-average food I experienced.

10 mins after we have arrived, the waiter came over to say he will take our order in '2 seconds' as he was very busy which was fair enough. Another 10 mins later, we politely asked if we could have someone to take our order, but only faced with a less-than-sincere response from the same waiter that he is 'still' busy and that he'll be with us in '2 seconds'... another 10 mins went by and finally he came back to take our order without even looking at us during the process, a simple apology after 30 mins of waiting was clearly not in their protocol.

We presented a voucher for a free drink from registering on their website and the waiter got it confused with another offer (which had nothing to do with us) and said the voucher was not valid, though the voucher was sent directly from their restaurant and contained no restriction clause whatsoever. Out of principle, we tried to clarify with the waiter and was told he was 'a little bit busy' (in his exact words) and he'd send his manager to us. Luckily the manager managed to explain why the voucher wasn't valid in that particular occasion straight away (nothing to do with the offer the waiter kept pushing back with). The waiter then gave us a very condescending 'see, told you!' type of follow up comment and blamed it on his poor English, though I see much bigger issue with his attitude than his near perfect English.

Starter and dessert were mediocre but main course was a dismay. My friend ordered the steak which was burnt and dry and tasted funny, and she ended up having to order a strong sauce (at extra cost) to make the steak more 'edible'. On giving this feedback to the waiter he said it was the way it's supposed to be and said 'but it tastes ok with the sauce, right?' My pasta dish was very salty.

The bill was dropped onto our desk, again, without the waiter even making any eye contact with us. The lack of desire to make any conversation with us during the whole paying process was shocking (the restaurant was very quiet at that point so no excuse of being busy now). I was disappointed with myself for not requesting the 12.5% service to be taken off the bill, which I think I deserve to.

It has been one of the worst service I have experienced.

I visited the Palm Court Brasserie at about 5pm on New Year's Eve following the cancellation of a reservation at another restaurant.

The service was excellent and the waiter was both knowledgeable and friendly. The food on the mediocre side but reasonable value for money. I had the lobster thermidor which had little meat and lots of topping which I wouldn't recommend but other dishes that passed me by looked good.

Visited Palm Court on Saturday 14th august 2010, after booking a table. After reading some of these reviews, to say I was worried would be an understatement! On arrival I knew straight away that the complainers were either from across the pond or just complainers from birth. The place was fabulous, atmosphere lovely, staff helpful and quick, and above all the food was gorgeous! We had French onion soup and pate for starters, haddock and sausages for mains. Would definately recommend Palm Court Brasserie to all my family and friends. Oh, and make sure you try the Prosecco!!!!

Enjoyed an excellent lunch at the Palm Court Brasserie with my wife on 3 June. I made an online reservation for the three course lunch offer at £16.50 plus free glass of Kir Royale. The waiters were friendly and welcoming, the food was excellent, the portions were very generous, my two glasses of lager were cold and very reasonably priced and the Kir Royale was just right. Altogether a most enjoyable occasion and excellent value for money. Would happily recommend the Palm Court Brasserie.

Had the dubious pleasure of visiting the Palm Court last Friday. Having arrived in London relatively late in the evening and having searched for a restaurant for some time my girlfriend and I found what we thought was the perfect spot for a late meal, lord but we were mistaken.

While the decor and surroundings were fabulous, with a beautiful art deco feel, the food left much to be desired. My girlfriend started with a french onion soup which was closer to bitumen than onion. The calamari had about two loaves of bread attached to each ring and as for the sizzling prawns? Well, what few of them arrived were more tepid and festering then sizzling. The pork shouldn't be discussed in polite company and the roasted vegetables were apparently cooked in a reactor several days previously.

On the plus side the wine list was very good. Fortunate as anyone choosing to eat here should ensure they've at least a few drinks before tucking in.

Also the chef's love for pepper sauce appears to border on the obsessive.

I had a great visit to Palm Court a month ago but last night was very disappointing indeed. Our table was booked for 8pm and despite being relatively early a number of starters were unavailable. However we were not told this until after we had placed our order and then the waitress returned twice to say that our choice was unavailable...very poor. A different waitress then approached us to say her colleague was wrong and we could have our original choices.. very confusing and led to a delay in us receiving our starters.

Our starters were good (especially the French onion soup) although they arrived at different times. Our plates were whisked away and we then had 25 minute wait for our main. The waitress only updated us and apologised for the delay 3 minutes before we received our order. The waitresses all seemed stressed, unapproachable and very busy although it wasn't a particularly busy evening. With regards to the mains my boyfriend enjoyed his steak however I ordered the chicken and it was more bone than meat..

Finally, we booked with toptable and they were aware of this when we came in however the 50% discount was not applied to our bill. Fortunately this was addressed very quickly.

I appreciate that every restaurant has a bad day, however, I felt that it failed on the very basic standard of customer service on this occasion and left a bad taste in my mouth.
