CRU Restaurant

My friends and i went to CRU for brunch on Sunday, it was excellent, friendly staff, some fantastic wines and an excellent sunday roast, the pefect antidote after Columbia Road Flower market.

My only issue was allowing smoking in the bar during brunch as there kids in our group, they have non smoking areas, but the bar's the nicest place to sit!

Wanted to say what a great night i had with friends the other night on my birthday, we all sat on the big table in the bar area and shared the starter platters which went down really well, the steak was one of the best i ve had apparently organic, the house wine was lovely and not too pricey and the staff were charming, the only down side was the desert i had bread and butter pudding was stongie and hard otherwise me and the girls and boys will be back

Felt compelled to write about how bad my experience at Cru was. From the appalling service, forgetful staff who first ignoire you then forget what you ordered from the appalling waitress who treated us as if we were beneath her... never have I been treated in a restaurant like this. The night was supposed to be a celebratory meal for our friend going away and desceneded into chaos, mistakes were made with the straters as the staff didn't ay attention to the allergy one of the party suffers from - in the end we never got our food in the end and ended up walking out. The Manager was kind enough to sort to waive the charge of the wine but I can safely say I will never set foot in Cru again after this experience. How good was the food - who knows, we didn't get to try any!

Three of us attempted to be served supper here on Saturday evening. We were invited in and presented with menus, one of which helpfully listed the dishes available for brunch. We made our choices from the uninspired selection (burgers, lamb shanks etc.) and chose a bottle from the admittedly decent list, and then we waited. And waited. And waited. A number of staff milled around the bar ignoring us, even as we started waving the menus at them to indicate a willingness to get the show on the road. In the end we walked out and had a pizza over the road. The waitress there had taken our order in approximately five minutes despite the fact that the restaurant was thronging by comparison.

went to cru last week for staff party and was excellent, great food and service.

We particulary loved the wines, magnificent organic wines!

I went in a group of 4 last weekend and was disappointed. Cru has got a great look and a good wine list. However, the food was fairly average and a little simple. Worst of all was the service which was truly abysmal ! Even if you got a memeber of staff's attention, they seemed to forgot what you wanted anyway....If you go, go on a quiet night and it should be OK.

I attended a drinks party at CRU on Sat for a friends birthday and i have to say it was splendid. The manager was most accomodating and the food was delicious. I will definately be back!

My sister and I had dinner here last night. My conclusion is this place is definitely a case of style over substance. The food was very disappointing and the service was poor. The place had a chaotic atmosphere with staff running around from table to table. The waitress forgot the condiments, we had to wait 20 minutes before asking to see the dessert menu and even paying took 10 minutes. I would not go back!

My girlfriend and I went to cru for Brunch on Sunday. Had never been so no preconceptions. We loved it, great roast beef was served, and friendly relaxed vibe. Would have been nice to had a choice of more than one roast, but other than that critical comments. Its great that there is noo stuffiness and good friendly service. After a walk around columbia rd it was a welcome break... the waiter let us try out a cocktail, cucumber & rosemary, surprisingly good, Good to involve customers in that way. Will return for dinner soon.
