Quite simply the best Indian restaurant I have visited in the UK. Food is near perfect, and very well presented. My wife and I ate far more than we would normally do (and we're not usually gluttons!). Service is great. The only negative is that there are very few lunchtime customers (great if you don't like noise, but not good for atmosphere).

I've visited both the Hampstead and Marylebone restaurants fairly recently. Both are pleasant environment in which to eat with polite staff. They are not cheap places to eat. The problem that I've found in both was the amount of salt used in the Dosa and the rice - you can mitigate it with yoghurt but it's just too salty. I won't be hurrying back which is a shame.

In my view Woodlands service is excellent and the food superb. The restaurant was highly recommended by a few friends but I was reluctant to try it, as I have always found Indian restaurants to be overpriced or the food far too oily. I have visited the Woodlands restaurants in Picadilly, Marylebone and now Hampstead and I have not been disappointed with the quailty of the service or the meal. Moreover you are not paying extortionist prices so you are more likely to make regular return visits. This is a food-focussed restaurant so don't expect Taj Mahal-like surroundings. The decor is tasteful but nothing spectacular (having said that, the Hampstead location seems to be quite sleek and more upscale). What you will very likely find spectacular is the excellent meal and pleasant, professional and helpful staff. The menu is extensive so there is something for everyone. The mixed Uttapam is my favorite dish.
