Went to this restaurant for first and for sure last time.
Food itself was good and tasty, but the service was beyond bad.
First of all, we were greeted at the door like they didn't want anybody there.
Next we got seated and received menu, but nobody came to ask if we were ready to order food or at least drinks for over 15 minutes.
When we finally got the order in, we waited for 45 minutes to get our food.
While waiting for food, we ran out of drinks, but nobody was willing to serve another round for us. Therefore we had to eat the food without anything to drink...and that sucks. Even after I ordered another round of drinks, we never got them.

Poor food. Very small portions with hardly any meat, not great value. Service was good but restaurant was almost entirely empty.

I went to Lalibela with a group of 10 friends and I must say I was taken aback by the ambience and the decor tuck away, in the north of London is this cosy well decorated Ethiopian Restaurant that I had no knowledge about until then. I thoroughly enjoyed the food, the service and most importantly the coffee, the coffee cermony was different to anything I had experience before and I would definately go back. If you are intending to go I would request an upstair seating which is so cosy and comfortable.

Went to Lalibela with several friends for a relaxed evening a few weeks ago. This was my first time trying Ethiopian food so I have nothing to compare it to in terms of authenticity but I found it flavoursome and thought the strange sponge like bread a good compliment to the spicy stews.
The service, while extemely friendly, was veeerrrry slow. We were there for a good catch up and there were plenty of us, so it suited us perfectly, but if you're in anything even resembling a hurry this is not the place to go. To give you an idea, we had some starters to share, a main dish each and some coffee (highly recommended, the smell is divine) to round off and the whole experience took a good couple of hours.
The ambience was good although like one other reviewer we did have a table next to us of loud, show-offy types, but these were in the minority, with most people just having a quiet, low key evening.
Overall I would definitely go again as the food was tasty, a little bit different, not too pricey and speed of service aside the waiting staff are lovely and accommodating.
One thing to note - if the weather is hot, dress with the view to remove as there is no air-con and all the stews on their little braziers makes for a heated atmosphere!

We ate here early on Saturday night. It was my first experience of Ethiopian food, and I liked it enough that I would certainly return. We had a variety of vegetable and pulse dishes, which would be somewhat basic were it not for the spicing, all eaten with a sour, springy bread that apparently is an Ethiopian staple. The bread is interesting in that whilst not particularly nice on its own, it complimented the other dishes very well. Service was polite and pleasant, and the heavily-decorated restaurant has its own distinct mood.
