mmm, Bamboula, Bamboula, Bamboula! What can I say, real Jamaican Food! (Back a Yard Style, authentic, spicy!)

Excellent customer service, (It seems as if they have taken note of the earlier reviews stating lack there of...)

A very enjoyable evening, with a lovely atmosphere, you must go to this place, however be careful with the Jerked dishes if you are not used to peppery dishes as it was quite spicy!

I am also a regular eater at Bamboula, food is absolutely great, my only problem though is the service, i reckon that when people become established and are well talked about they become a bit big headed and, in other words a bit too big for their shoes. In my view the owner of this business should take special time out to train staff in costumer service, we black people are quite touchy and especially when it comes to food..........especially food from yard, we want good service, friendly people, a smile even. Dont have people waiting so long for food without an apology. I must add that i have been going to this restaurant for years but my patronage has been on the decline now mainly because of poor service

After reading a couple of reports about the service I wasn't expecting any at all. But the manager on the night was polite knowledgeable and very welcoming.

The food was very tasty and satisfying, I could of eaten Guava Jerk Lamb all night!!!

We went there for a b/day dinner on Saturday 30th June 2007.

The atmosphere of the place is truly Caribbean and the music very warm and festive.

The food is excellent and congrats to the chefs/cooks...and kitchen staff...

However, the service is lacking

Our sever took it upon himself in a very tacky manner to inform us that our guests only had 2 hrs to arrive, order and eat....and then proceeded to tell the guests..not the person that booked the place some financial details that should not have been divulged to anyone other than the person who booked.

This in addition to the lady who initially started lying the table who just left the menus in a heap at one end and went bout her business. When our other guests arrived we had to go and ask for additional cutlery and glass wear and there was no water on the tables.

Please Bamboula staff/owners if you read this, you have a good thing going, however the don't care attitude of staff, the rushed feeling one gets when they sit to eat and the lack of tact re a turn off.

I am a writer and editor as well as involved in tourism and would love to reccommend this restaurant 100%, but I am a little hesitant to do so witht he current service being offered.

I brought a friend here to dinner yesterday evening, she was quite impressed with the flavours. I have frequently come here with family and friends and i must admit that the food is delicious, its an achievement to get to complete a dessert once you have a main course, because it is so plentiful.

Recently returned from a Jamaican holiday, we greatly enjoyed our Bamboula lunch. A real taste of the Caribbean, with Red Stripe and (not on the menu but in the fridge) even Ting to match. Delicious, friendly, pretty quick service, cheerful guests, and the cook chased an unwanted visitor out faster than you can say "hot pastie".

Have eaten here a few times over the past two years as it's down the road from wher I live and have never been let down. My aim is to come here enough times to have tried everything on the menu...so far can't seem to get past the curried goat or the rundown chicken.

The place is very cosy and you get the feeling the food provided is good honest food. Do not forget to order festivals to soak up the sauce that comes with most of the main dishes.

If you go with some one try to get them to order something different you so get to try another dish as they will both be good.

Service is relaxed; not slow but relaxed and friendly. Great place. I challenge anyone to come here and not enjoy the food.

We had a great time in Bamboula. It was a good decision to book a table in advance for Saturday evening (the place is tiny and obviously popular!). Simple, nice and non-overwhelming design help to focus on what is really important: the food! We had a variety of starters, and three different main courses: the superb goat curry, surprisingly tender and perfectly spiced ox-tail and a well balanced saltfish. There is a good choice of side dishes - plantains, various brands of rice and tomatoes - we tried all of them. Good place to try fresh juices and a real discovery - the Guinness punch. Food is prepared on-site (you can see the chef working hard in the back of the restaurant), the portions are large, the service is quick and very friendly. There's reaggae in the air, but it's all customer friendly - does not disturb you, is not loud at all and doesn't make the conversation difficult (what is typical to most of the "ethnic cuisine" places). Last but not least - this place is CHEAP... I would expect twice the bill, so the final price turned out to be a nice surprise. Bamboula has a small selection of Jamaican spices, jerks, coffee (Jamaica Blue Mountain!!!) and carribean cookbooks for sale. Really strongly recommended place. It's worth a special trip to Brixton. We'll be back!
