I made a booking at Bamboula for mums 80th. From the get -go I was very impressed with the service. The staff were very helpfull with organising my 30 guests and they really made mum feel special. We all had a three courses and we all agreed that the food was excellent. Mum was given a glass of champers on the house but the big surprise was when a member of staff played Stevie Wonders Happy Birthday and all the staff including those in the kitchen came out singing and clapping for mum which in turn got everyone doing the same.

Mum really enjoyed the food - especially the steamed tillapia with callaloo rice, when we were leaving she said "mi a come back next year fi mi 81st.

Thank you to all at Bamboula, you have 30 new customers including mummy.

Bamboula going down the drain...I will keep it short and simple. I recently went Bamboula with 2 friends...

*The jerk chicken tasted boiled and tossed in jerk sauce.

*The rice & peas was old; rice was hard and no hint coconut.

*The curry goat...disgraceful...purely bone with no relation to Jamaican curry goat...tasted like a cheap Korma out of a tin.

*Manager did not care; accused us of trying to eat without paying, was more concerned with preserving the reputation of the restaurant...he even admitted he did not try the food.

*Service was poor(as always).

I have been a loyal customer for years, I have always recommended Bamboula until the last visit. Regulars no longer come here; even a friend who visited with her sister was disappointed...AVOID...nuff said.

Dined with a friend in Bamboula last night and it was excellent. I had the plaintain/ackee starter, followed by curried goat with rice and peas, washed down with a cool glass of delicious sorrel. My friend had the jerked lamb with guava, and having tasted it I now know what I will be ordering next time I return to Bamboula.

The only issue I have with the place is that annoying door that won't stay shut. We had to move to another table prior to the food arriving as the breeze kept blowing the door open. A couple came in shortly after we left and we noted that the man kept getting up to try and force the door closed. Hope they will fix it soon although I imagine it must be nice to be getting a cool breeze in a hot summer.

Compliments to the chef, and keep up the good work Bamboula.

I was extremely disappointed about the food and that's putting it nicely. My girlfriend and i both ordered stew chicken rice & peas, then we were told they only had one portion of rice & peas left so i had white rice instead. The meal did look a good size, the presentation and quality of food was very poor. The rice did not taste fresh as if it had been reheated over & over and the plantain wasn't fresh "hard and cold". With the meal we ordered pineapple & mango juice, the size of the cup was very small for £1.30 and i really do mean small, plus they tasted like carton juice not freshly made at all.

Service oh my... The waitress was not welcoming, looked like she didn't want to serve or didn't want to be there. We had asked for more drinks and from across the room the waitress screwed up her face and silently shouted we're closing "how rude". The bill came to £25.19.. money not well spent...

First and last time i would ever go there.. Would never ever in a million years recommend to anyone, friends or family.

I went on a Wednesday night and even though there wasn't much of an atmosphere, I liked the vibe. The service was friendly and the decor tacky in a kitsch way, especially the Jamaican palm trees. Though I gotta say i've never tasted such incredible jerk chicken before. It's all about the gravy which was spicey though not too intense that you lose sight of the other flavours. It went down nicely with the ginger beer, which i was hoping would be followed by blue mountain coffee though sadly they ran out : ( A good excuse to head back.

Bamboula is in my opinion one of the most authentic caribbean restaurants in town. The food is great and the portions are great value for your money.

The atmosphere is so cosy and the service has gotten even better.

We were greeted at the entrance with a welcoming smile and taken to our reserved table for four. everything we ordered was available as shown on the menu. The Rum Jug for four was a creeper through out the rest of the evening. the background music had us momentarily rocking and sometime reminiscing old school style. But the most memorable ting was the Food ... the chicken rundown served with ground provisions was NICE me a tell you!

Will back again real soon!

I visited Bamboula with three friends. We were greeted at the door and shown our seats. The menus were promptly given to us and drinks were ordered and bought to our table by a smiling waitress. We each ordered different dishes as recommended by the waitress. so that we could taste each others meal. Well, to cut a long story short there was nothing left on our plates!! The food was delicious. There were two waitresses working both making sure that we were OK. The waitress who took our order was very polite and helpfull as we asked a lot of questions. The atmosphere was relaxed with good back ground music. We did make note of the fact that nothing on the menu was over £10, so if you are a little low on funds you will get great value for money the portions are huge! We left Bamboula feeling very full. We are planning our next visit.

I been eating here for over 8 years. Their starters are excellent I have eaten nearly everything on their menu. I love their chicken soup spicy but no too much. Their ackee and salfish is excellent loads of ackee. If you are no sure about a dish they will explain and do it the way you like. If you dont like spicy and by that I mean hot pepper tell them because there food is spicy but very nice. I alwat have the lamb and my son has the fish.

There only one thing that spoils this a little is that sometimes there service can be a little slow but well worth the wait . Drinks are a little bit expensive so order by the jug if you can its a bit more cheaper.

real jamaican food excellent service food for under £7 very filling 10 plus
