Excellent setting in wonderful grounds and building, albeit interior decoration a little plain. Friendly and efficient staff who are attentive and well presented. The wine lists are superb, although the actual wine manager was a little vague on his knowledge of several of his wines. The starter courses are all good, if overpriced for the quantity given. The main event of the food is well presented, and the meat and fish are cooked to perfection. However, all three of my party, including myself on Saturday 19th April were disappointed at a lack vegetables, or any real seasonal variety. They come in a novel small copper saucepan, which is more for show than substance, but the portion is small. There are notes on the menu that one can order more, for an additional charge, but waiting may spoil the meal, and the variety was a tad lacking anyway. At the prices being charged, this should not be necessary. Unfortunately we were suprised that there was no mentionable potatoe product. I was disappointed to have a few cruton sized and shaped potatoe pieces, and my friends also had to hunt the potatoe. The deserts are all good, especially if you like the usual chocolate, or the currently popular rhubarb, but some of the other popular sweets ran out very quickly for an early sitting. All in all go for the care of staff, good wine, flavourful main meals in a peaceful setting, but not for good value, modern atmoshere or hungry reasons.
