Having seen couple of first reviews on the page I wonder how we were able to experience just the opposite.

I had a party of 40 people last week at Mountain View Blackheath, and it was just spendid. From the very beginning till the very end there was not a glitch on service. Starters were preplated, servded at once on our both tables, so were the main courses and desserts. Staff were so friendly and polite that everybody was impressed.

Lamb chops on our mix starter and chicken man pasanda and gorkhali lamb were a real delight for mains. Gulabjamun with icecream was a heavenly buttom up. Don't mis this place for parties guys.

There seems to be a strange profusion of diners giving this dire place top marks without stating their reasons. Hmmm ...

I visited Mountain View with a small group of friends on a Saturday night. As previous reviews suggest, the service was truly the worst I have ever experienced. In total, we were in the restaurant for 4 hours for 2 starters, 8 main courses and a birthday cake for my friend. The management did not seem to care about how long we were waiting, even though we had booked in advance, and had the cheek to ask why we had not paid the service charge.

The food, when it finally arrived, was tepid and bland. The waiters forgot one of the naan breads, incorrectly described one main course and could not identify another.

There are a few good Indian-style restaurants in South East London, but this is not one of them. Go elsewhere.

I went here for my 25th birthday on the 15th of January this year.

As we had a lot of guests coming (15 in total) we booked in November (2 months in advance) to ensure we had enough space booked in the restaurant. We then phoned up to check all was well a fortnight before the event, then the day before the event.

I used to be a professional events organiser, so I am very familiar with just how important it is to check these things, when you have such a large booking.

When we all arrived at the restaurant it was obvious there was a problem. A cluster of my guests were waiting in the take-away area, and they had been told that there was no table. It turns out a small party with a group of children had been seated on our table. The restaurant was absolutely heaving, and as a result it was immensely embarrassing that we had no where to go. Especially as a lot of my guests had travelled from outside of London.

The waiters did not apologise at all, but scrabbled around and made up a very cramped table in a poky corner. We were already immensely disappointed but my husband and I decided to let it go and try and have a good time. As the meal went on the service was sub-standard throughout. However, nothing prepared us for the aftermath of the meal.

When we finally left we had spent over £500 in their restaurant, but the waiters did little to thank us, and did nothing at all to make up for the delay to our meal or the confusion with our table.

Excellent service, menu choice, portion sizes, flavours and general value for money.

One complaint only - too salty! It's 3 long years since I've been there because of the same issue, which me and 2 friends thought then. I finally thought it was worth going there again last night with a friend and low and behold - every dish was too salty, especially the curry half of my veg biryani. I left half of it. Really not like me.

With such fantastic flavours in every dish that amount of salt is just not necessary. Good but flawed, big shame.

Best podadum condiments I've ever had though!

After trying out a few other restaurants - and often being disappointed - we always return to Mountain View. The service is friendly, the food is very good and fairly priced - except for the bottled water! And I love being treated to a little drink at the end of my meal. A long-time favourite.

I went here today for with a friend and had their £7.95 lunch deal. We both really enjoyed it and were amazed at the value for money - 2 courses, rice/naan, drink (inc wine) and tea/coffee to finish all included in the set price. Lovely restaurant, despite slightly weird decor, and attentive staff.

I have eaten here about 5 times and have always been impressed with the service and food. The chef even put together a particular dish that I like that wasn't on the menu which was delicious. I would reccomend this to anyone who enjoys Indian food and wants a comfortable dining experience.
