I've been here a few times now and found the staff really friendly and welcoming, the service spot on and the food really, really good... I think it's the best you can find in the Blackheath/Greenwich area.

I truly agree with the reviewer Steve this place will rip you off as they push you for £6 mixed starter which makes your stomach more than half full and again they force you for a lot for main meal they want you to order more and more and recommend their expensive dishes only. My advice is if you want to go to this restaurant choose the dishes yourself estimate yourself how much you can eat dont listen to the waiters otherwise you will have a heavy bill on your table. But I have to admit the food was very good .

We had a take awya from this restaurnat tonight- it was the worse example of INdaian / Nepalese food I have ever eaten. The oil used to cook the food was tired old oil that had been used to fry off countless other popadums. The chicken korma was totally bland with huge chunks of what I presume to be processed chicken in them. The food arrived very fast but was a total let down leaving a very nasty after taste in the mouth and wallet.

The food and service in this place is amazing... Nan breads are out of this world and everything is freshly cooked. Beautiful. You also get complimentary drinks at the start and end of the meal.

100% recommended...

Our first visit to the Mountain View was a nice experience and we had good food with nice (if not a little toady) welcome and service. There are definitely some different dishes on the menu as you might expect from the Nepalese/fusion style of the place and the cost wasn't too bad.

HOWEVER!!!

On our next visit the the manager started to irk a little and we had a big group to celebrate my birthday so we wanted to get sat down not be fawned over. The manager offered to save us the trouble of choosing a starter and said he would bring us a mix of nibbles while we waited for our main course. What followed was a plate each (even the children) of tandoori mixed grill which we were charged £6 each for - as much as a main course - and we were full after eating it meaning most of what followed wasn't enjoyed or just got wasted.

They also tried to get us to over order on the rice and wouldn't take no for an answer. When it came they tried to serve it all rather than let us share.

I should have seen it coming but after the nice first visit I didn't think we'd be ripped off so blatantly. Also the food was far worse with some dishes too salty to eat. If I had not had so many guests I would have made a scene but you can't do that all the time.

But it's the best Peshwari naan I've ever tasted.

Wow, what a let down. Maybe i had built it up in my head as it was NYE but it was just all, well, a bit bland really. It started off ok, with a handshake and welcome from the guy at the desk, but it was all just a bit amateurish from then on. Telling the waiter i was vegetarian was just greeted by a blank look and no alterative (it was set menu). In fact, I then had a meat dish brought out to me, so my girlfriend ended up eating both! When I told the manager at the end he just brushed it aside and asked where we were sitting so he could charge us the right amount. The rest of the staff were great at smiling, but there wasn’t mush else. Also, when I asked the waiter what some of the dishes were, he just repeated the name, and didn’t actually say what was in it! I gave up in the end. The food was average when it did arrive. I also find it a little disconcerting when the waiters with the food come out of a door marked ‘toilets’ I think the manager should have told his family to stay at home, I mean, come on this is a professional establishment isn’t it??! Don’t get me wrong, some people will think its fine, but ive been to so many restaurants where the customer is made to feel very special….you don’t here.

My girlfriend and I visited on a weekday night and found it basically one of the best curry places in London. I have no idea how the reviewer below had such a bad time, it really must have been a one off or something, this place has the service, atmosphere and food at prices that other places would charge just for being in a tendy location. Worth a trip to visit.

I last visited Mountain View with a small group of friends last Saturday night. I had visited the restaurant last year on a Wednesday and it was quiet with unspectacular food, but nothing particularly outstanding or offensive. On my second and last visit the service was truly the worst I have ever experienced. We had to wait 30 minutes for the menus, 50 minutes for someone to take our order, 2 hours 15 minutes for our main courses to arrive and it took them 30 minutes to bring the bill despite asking for it on 4 occasions. In total, we were in the restaurant for 4 hours for 2 starters, 8 main courses and a birthday cake for my friend. The management did not seem to care about how long we were waiting, even though we had booked in advance, and had the cheek to ask why we had not paid the service charge.

The food, when it finally arrived, was tepid and bland. The waiters forgot one of the naan breads, incorrectly described one main course and could not identify another. Everything was at Blackheath "pay whatever" prices and the atmosphere of discontent was as empty as all previous incumbents of this soulless building. There are a few good Indian-style restaurants in South East London, but this is not one of them. if you are after good service and fresh food in Blackheath, go to Strada next door.

Visited Mountain View last night with family and had a really nice time.

The food was very good and refreshingly different from the usual Indian curry.

The staff were welcoming, friendly and attentive ( maybe a little too attentive to be honest ).

Definitely worth a return visit.
