WELL WELL WELL!!! I am so surprised at some of these comments regarding la pampa.Iam aware that they have, like so many restaurants, have had difficulties recruiting staff of late, but waiting a little longer for questionably the best steak is well worth while.I have eaten at this restaurant twenty times or more and have been impressed with the fine quality of food, wine and the ambiance. The manager is a proud man and I am sure he would be extremely concerned if the quality of food fell below the high standards that he sets himself and his staff.

I shall be returning again.

To be honest, La Pampa was pretty seriously awful. The service was fine, if completely forgettable, but that's the most positive thing to be said. The food was poor, my friend and I both ordered the rib-eye steak - the most expensive steak on the menu - and we were very disappointed. Both of the steaks were small, mine particularly so. In fact my steak was made up of one small piece of meat and I was under the impression that the point of a rib-eye steak was that it combined the tender cut of fillet with a section of sirloin with some fat to allow maximum flavour. My steak was not like that at all, when I pointed this out the chef said it had come from 'the end' of the cut of beef and it was perfectly fine. It was tiny. The steaks were served on some shredded iceberg lettuce - a bizarre retro touch, and the side order of roast potato/huge chips were hard and uninspiring. There was obviously some problem with the toilets that night as the dingy back area of the restaurant smelled very unpleasant and they had obviously tried to cover it up with cheap air freshener. The ultimate sting in the tail is that this restaurant is expensive. It is in a location that obviously caters to a well monied local population and as opposed to maximising it's appeal it is merely a lazy exercise in parting unsuspecting first time customers with the most cash, knowing there won't be many repeat clientele. I would definitely avoid this one. I would think that people are pretty easily pleased with this genre of food, we aren't talking about french fine dining here, it can't be that hard to provide a large decent steak with good chips if that is the raison d'être of your restaurant and yet La Pampa have failed miserably.

Went to La Pampa Grill on the weekend... I found the food to be hearty and very delicious, the music was fabulous, the service was good considering that the place was so packed out... Not a single table or chair spare! Its not the first time i have been, hence i as many other do keep coming back... The owner was in the restaurant setting the mood for a wonderful Friday night, it was buzzing in there and after everyone had finished their meals, you could hear laughter and giggles from every table as people were drinking wine and cocktails till late and even dancing on tables and singing on the top of their voices...

It may not be authentic as some may have said, but it certainly is good food, and a laugh to brighten up a dull friday night after work, and get you into that Friday feeling...

Complete rubbish. Went in a few weeks ago and left after waiting over 20 minutes trying to get a drink order to the waitress!! Got funny looks from her when I asked if the bread was complimentary As many expats from Argentina have pointed out this place has nothing to do with the country whatsoever, playing salsa is a giveaway then hearing the colombian accents was disheartning - not because I have anything against them but why try to delude people this is an authentic pampa grill place?

Coming from south america I can say I know a hell of a lot more about different types of south american food.

Best to avoid like the plague, this seems to be a recurring thing in colombian run restaurants, they have a rare occasion where the food is great, you go back because you stupidly think it's a great place only to be disappointed.

A complete waste of space.

I can only describe this place as amateur. We arrived to find that our table of seven had been booked for the wrong evening and then sent to the sister restaurant with the promise of a table. We arrived there and the 'manager' claimed he hadn't been told and got very angry. The restaurant was too busy, under staffed and we could hear several tables complaining. After 15 mins of waiting we decided to leave with no apology or liaison from any form of management. My advice would be to stay well away from this shambles of a restaurant.

We have just been to La Pampa Grill, having booked a table we were disappointed to be placed by the door on a tiny table, if only we had known what was in store... My husband spent the whole evening closing the door for the smokers, chance walk ins and people leaving. We (and the table next to us) did not take off our coats all night and not one member of staff commented.

The food was ok, but an £80 bill to freeze your t**s off, with no service and no apology (when I politely pointed it out to them) is a bit galling.

Very disappointing.

I went to La Pampa Grill on Friday night, i had sirloin steak (Medium) with eggs (well done) and saute potatoes.

The steak arrived dripping with blood, more to what i would describe as rare, and the eggs were under cooked to the point where the white was still clear. Saute potatoes were not much better, since they were covered in a herb of some kind that overpowered the food, and they were not fresh - tasted like they had been microwaved before being deep-fried.

I would not recommend this place, i would say it's over priced and not worth the time of day - it's almost the price of Gaucho Grill with the quality of McDonalds.

I've been to Pampa grill last night. Being myself Argentinian I felt homesick and needed some good steak. My first impression was that the music was also salsa!... I love salsa but it has nothing to do with Argentina. Then the decoration didn't make any sense so I ask the waiter and he turned out to be Colombian and so the restaurant owners... I felt cheated but I carried on with my dinner.

I ordered an empanada, I received a Colombian empanada, one of those you normally have at La Bodeguita in Elephant & Castle with a weird sauce, it was nice though but not what I wanted. Then we wanted some bread but it had ran out so we were offered bread from the day before which was "still fresh". Obviously, we refused it.

The Bife de Filete was fine, probably because it said it's brought especially from Argentina, who knows.

The last straw came when I asked for some chimichurri and they said the weird sauce was actually chimichurri...what??? I couldn't believe it. I don't think you have to be born and raised in the country you are cooking food from, but at least you must have some basic knowledge of its cousine

Service was poor and staff unsmiling yet quick.

Not coming back again, for £80 I can get something much better. This restaurant lets Argentina down.

Been to this restaurant once before and didn't have the best culinary experience but 2 years on gave it the benefit of the doubt and sadly nothing had changed. Poor food, overpriced and terrible service. Avoid like the plague - both restaurants.

On both occasions I have been to la pampa I ordered a plane rib-eye steak costing £17.50 and on both occasions I received a steak with two eggs on it which cost £18.50. I asked them to remove the eggs and when the bill came guess what - they still charged me for the eggs. This happened the first time as well. Sly little trick to bump up that bill. After we complained about the eggs the staff would not look us in the eye and were suddenly v unfriendly.

The salad we ordered was pathetic for £7.50 - sliced iceberg with 2 lonely pieces of feta cheese, no onions and some cheap dressing.

Basically I made the same mistake twice - stay away from this place.

Having been spoilt with steak during a recent trip to Argentina I am always on a quest to find a great steak in London at a reasonable price.

As it happens La Pampa Grill on Battersea Rise offers both, a rare find!!

However, sadly I have to agree with a lot of the previous reviews regarding the poor service. I would love to go back to this place but the manager and his aggressive attitude will prevent me from doing so.

This is a great shame as the steak really was very good.
