I have been eating at the Everest Inn for some time now and love it! The food is superb and the staff are always friendly, welcoming and attentive.

It's a gem of a restaurant hidden on the Old Kent Road.

Can't recommend it highly enough.

It is not a place to go for a quick meal in the evening. Everything is freshly prepared and sometimes, with a large group, this can take them some time.

Always well and truly worth the wait though!!

We think this establishment is a real find.

The Old Kent Road is a bit short on decent eateries, and the Everest Inn certainly qualifies on a number of scores as one of these: the food is excellent, service good, and the cost reasonable.

We have eaten here on a number of occasions and always thought very highly of the place. It works as a venue for couples and for family groups too. Staff are lovely and the place is usually fairly quiet.

Food features most of the dishes that you would expect from a British Indian restaurant, but there are also a number of Nepalese dishes which are superb. Machha Fish is terrific, as are a number of other fish dishes from the tandoor. Starters are creative and enticingly presented - try the courgette flowers with strawberry chutney! Mains are freshly-spiced and use ghee sparingly. There is a strong sense that the kitchen sees itself as going places.

Breads are good, as is the beer. Icy Kingfisher comes on draft and Kathmandu is available by the bottle too.

Overall, a cracking local restaurant which deserves a good deal more custom than it seems to have at the moment. Visit before the crowds come!
