La Perla (Covent Garden)

I thought the food was great, the guac was awesome and the cocktails and Tequila was excellent!

Great place for a Thursday night - Good happy hour prices!

The service was okay but the food was really bland and uninspiring. In fact, I would go so far as to say it's the worst Mexican food I've had in London, and that's saying something!

Food was microwaved. The pastry tortilla from the burrito was not completely cooked and the street tacos were a joke as a main meal, it was not big enough to even be an appetizer. The nachos were certainly not homemade, more like doritos with some cheese and chopped chicken on top. Place looks really nice and has a nice Caribbean atmosphere so I was really excited but when the food came ... The rice and beans were blustered in the microwave and you had to wait 10 mins before even touching them and after that they had no taste whatsoever. In terms of food, really disappointing.

I thought this restaurant was very good. The staff was very attentive, and I didn't have to ask for anything. I really enjoyed the food. It is definitely on my list of places to eat in London.

La perla seem to do all they can to squeeze money from their clientele. We reserved a table and were told it wasn't ready so we were to order drinks at the bar.

Our table was ready a minute later and it had been cleanish and available all along.

You only get 1 guacamole no matter how many starter nachos you order, if you ask for more to make up for the shortfall you're charged.

The food itself is nothing special, you could eaily make it better at home. The menu choice is rather limited and reads better than it looks.

The food is expensive for what it is and it's clear that all the extra money is not invested into making the restaurant better in anyway. The staff aren't bad but there are not enough. They do an ok job but don't warrant the 12.5% service charge on the bill. Probably their only way to ensure a tip which is shame.

Places like this make me fell sorry for anyone who isn't aware that london restaurants can be great and you don't have to pay over the odds to eat out. Are there any good mexican restaurants out there....?

I had the worst dining experience in my life last night at la Perla! During starters, we had to get up and go over to the waitress twice to order more drinks and you'd think they'd get the message??! Our main courses were still not there after a full hour and since it was getting late and we were all tired and hungry, we asked for our food to be wrapped up so we can take it away. Then we were told by the head waiter that they hadn't started cooking our food and in that case could we just cancel our order?!?! I told them we were very unhappy with the service in a stern but polite way and the head waiter (or manager) had the temerity to tell us they were waiting for us to wipe our starter plates clean before they brought the main course!! A WHOLE HOUR!!!! I regret going there because the service is the worst I've had anywhere and the waiters and waitresses are so rude and their food is average anyway. It's like they're doing you a favor by allowing you to sit and eat for food for which you're paying anyway... what has the world come to?!?

I should have just walked out without paying for their greasy starters and drinks...

The bar staff is always amazing when I have been here! From 2003 to 2008, I have loved the cocktails and the food, it is such a pleasure to to find such service while i have lived and stayed in London. Thank you!
