La Perla

I am wondering if I have been to the same restaurant that most people are talking about. I go here on average once or twice a month and have never had a bad meal or experience bad service. They even have Nicaraguan Flor de Cana rum on the menu, which is near impossible to find anywhere in the UK.

I love this place. It is one of my favourite restaurants. The staff have never been rude to me or my dinner guests but they are not US style stepford waiters either. They have a sense of humour even when they are rushed off their feet.

Not sure about the microwave comments either. They have an open kitchen so it's all their for you to see.

I would recommend it. The chicken Burrito is great.

I can recommend La Perla if you are looking for reasonably priced and good Mexican food. The coladas are also worth trying! Service is okay but the tables are rather small so when the food and drinks are served there is hardly any space left to put an extra glass on the table. But apart from the small tables, it´s a nice place and I would go again.

I LOVE La Perla. It is my favourite bar. I love the cocktails, the atmosphere, the location... the bar staff are great

The food is absolutely godawful! And actually the table service isn't all that either...

My recommendation, come in, have a couple of margaritas and then go to another restaurant to eat... You can always come back for a nightcap!

I cannot fault the service waitress was polite and attentive without being intrusive but was extremely disappointed with the food.

We arrived mid afternoon only another couple was in the restaurant, we ordered two mains from the menu (burrito and enchilado), both had clearly been microwaved.

The food itself was very bland for a mexican and the sauce was baked on to the plate, and the rice was overly dry all this was of course because they had used a microwave. Which made us wonder when the food had actually been prepared.

For mains costly roughly £10/11 each you don't really expect microwave meals. Won't be returning.

I was very disappointed with La Perla Bar. I went on a Friday night and on arriving was told the only food we could order was off the special menu or starter menu. None of the main courses were available due to a problem in the kitchen. But we could order fajitas. I was happy I could still get fajitas so felt a bit better but then the wrong food was brought to our table. Not only that the waitress was very unfriendly. Not somewhere I would recommend for a pleasant dining experience.

Very nice atmosphere but horrible staff.

Very unfriendly and aggressive.

When pointing to the waitress that she just collected my half way finished Mojito she looked at me and say "you are a liar"

Good food, a little pricey but that goes with the territory. Extremely busy but the service was quick taking this into account. Excellent Fajitas and wide ranging menu.

I've been to La Perla twice and to be honest, I was disappointed on both accounts. The food is alright, not bad...but the service is absolutely attrocious. They won't let you sit down if you just wants drinks and appetizers and if not EVERYONE (say, 1 of 5 people) is eating they'll also not let you sit. ridiculous.

I don't see how anyone can say they don't like La Perla. I can only guess that the guy below had one bad experience. Honestly, who goes to a Mexican restaurant and orders chips anyway? Obviously it is not as good as the Mexican you can get for a fiver in California (I'm from San Jose, CA), but for Mexican in London it is not half bad. The nachos are yum, the margaritas are smooth and the happy hour is a bargain. All in all it's a pretty great place to have a Mexican meal or just get tanked on tequila based beverages.
