I felt compelled to write this review after reading the one below.

I visited the Lantern Taverna with my boyfriend and his parents about this time last year, and had a fantastic evening! One of the best things is that when you book a table, you get it for the whole evening - they leave you to enjoy at your leisure.

Not sure whose advice Karen was following, but the standard thing seems to just order the set Mezze menu for however many in your party, and they bring a wide range of dishes as they are cooked. Service was wonderful - the owner checks that you're having a good time and gave us free metaxa just before we eventually stumbled out. Food was really tasty, but to be honest, it was the atmosphere that made the place... admittedly this is NOT a good choice for couples, it has a party atmosphere and there are even musical instruments hanging on the ceiling that you can get down and play.

Yes, the guitarist is awful, but for us that made for an even more fun evening. This place has been there since the 1940s I understand, and the character is second to none - if you have a good sense of humour and relax. Highly recommended and I am going back in a couple of weeks!

Oh, and also fantastic value for money.

This place lacked everything. The service was absolutely appaling and the food diabolical.

As starters we had a marriage of Halloumi and pork sausage and beed sausage. The halloumi dish was very dry and dull. The beef sausage was not even worth a second look.

Our main courses were even worse. Drunken chicken came straight out of the microwave, and I ordered a salad with it that never came (or the waiter had it in his hands but gave it to the wrong table.). Trying to get the attention of the waiters to get another drink (which should be revenue for them) was impossible. Even when trying to pay, it was difficult to get their attention. The place wasn't even full.

There is also live music, every day... yeah! Fun. The musician stood there with his guitar and played the same song twice in a row.

This place is a joke so I felt compelled to write this review so nobody else would waste their money on this wasted establishment.
