Tiroler Hut

The Tiroler Hut in a few words? Arrogant, appallingly managed and thoroughly disappointing. I had booked a table via email from their website the Thursday before the Saturday we wanted to eat. I received no email confirmation, and rang up at least 6 times on Friday trying to get through to confirm my reservation. Eventually on Saturday afternoon somebody answered the phone to inform us that someone had taken the reservation book home so they had no idea who was booked in that night. We were told to ring back at 6pm, which we duly did and then told that person still hadn't come in and to ring back at 7. We rang back again and they still weren't there. They actually mentioned that people were turning up for tables and they had no idea if they really did have reservations or not, or indeed where to sit them. They called me back about half an hour later to say that we did not have a reservation, and unless we called to confirm our e-mail it wasn't valid, because they received so many by e-mails they couldn't cope with the demand. I really wanted to go, and my 7 friends and I who trekked to Notting Hill were very disappointed.

The owner/manager is not capable of managing the establishment as I tried to book a table for 5 for a broadcasting company night out. He managed to call me two days before we were due to experiance the establishments food only to find the place was "apparently" fully booked. I've been there in the past for drinks and food and was generally a fun evening, however, I think the service has worryingly gone downhill especially as the manager/owner wouldn't let us have a drink at the bar. I think the place has become quite arrogant over the popularity of the place - don't expect the manager/owner to remember you.

Definitely not the sort of place you'd want to go for a romantic meal or a civilised family evening, nor if you want to sample gourmet Austrian food, but a great place for a group of people who want to make a lot of noise and have a loud, night out. I went with people from work and it was brilliant fun. Service was friendly and patient and the music, cowbell playing and singing made for an almost surreal but fab holiday-like atmosphere. Other reviews are right though - check about the deposit if you're a large group- luckily our waitress refunded ours but we had to sign for it. Also slightly annoying was that the bill did not come itemised - we had no way of verifying what we had had nor what it cost as we were only presented with the total (not that we didnt trust them of course!).Reasonably priced per head given it was a fab night out. I'll go again once my voice has recovered from all the singing.....

The Tiroler Hut is THE best place in London if you want a funpacked and noisy night out with lots of people. The service, atmosphere, food, drink and entertainment is beyond all expectations and it's impressed everypne I've ever been with.

Worst dining experience I've had in London. I was there for a Xmas party so I wasn't paying, and even that didn't lessen the pain of the whole evening. Food was bland. Entertainment was dire - accordian player and bell ringer plus singing. Shocking. Only redeeming feature is the monstrously huge beers.

Really good for the entertainment but not def not for the food. One good advise - if you book for a big group, DO NOT pay your deposit as it might happen ( it happened to us ) that they 'forget' to take the deposit off the final bill and later claim the waitress thought it was her tip. Several attempt to settle this with the owner ended in nothing. He thinks he is not responsible at all even though that we paid a service charge of £90 plus a deposit/tip of £60 and that is was all done to the waitress. ( who obviously was very happy with her £150 tip..and had no thought about giving it back )

I've eaten at the Tiroler hut 4-5 times and have loved it every time. Theres great wine (if you can drag yourself away from the beer!) and the food is really good and not something you can find in too many places in this country. The entertainment is fantastic. I'd go more if it wasn't just a little much for my budget. Its worth it though - definately.

Best restaurant I have been to in a long time. Full of life and some of the most eclectic, interesting people I have seen in one room in London. The food, although simple, is hearty and reminded me very much of skiing holidays. Excellent place.

We had heard great things about this place, but were quite disappointed. It seems the main draw must be the entertainment (because the food is very bland and uninteresting) but unfortunately we were not in the main room to see it.
