Jakobs Cafe on Gloucester Road is just an amazing place to go for a nice and friendly atmosphere. The mixure of Armenian, Iranian, Greek, Lebaneese and classical food is really fantastic. Everything looks fresh and healthy. Lots of organic dishes. The music is very pleasant and the staff very friendly. Prices are very reasonnable for London. A place I will go back for sure when I return to London.

Good tastey home food away from home. Great variety of heathly foods. Very friendly staff. Love the counter where i can see the food ... gets me to try new things. I can be in and out in 5min. I go twice a week now. Very fair prices for the quality.

We were charged a whopping £26 for two plates of vegetables and two soft drinks. There was no menu; we were required to choose dishes from a display cabinet and then the agressive staff heated the food in a microwave oven. The unevenly-heated fare tasted OK but you can get much the same for half the price at any of the Mediterranean buffet places around Covent Garden.
Only two or three of the dishes on offer are actually Armenian and the rest are generic Mediterranean. The waiter had not even heard of lavash, the unleavened flatbread that is the Armenian staple.
The decor is vaguely Armenian, with some photographs of the country pasted to the wall. Those who have read Orwell's "Down and Out in Paris and London" will perhaps know what the most authentically Armenian aspect of this eatery is.

The food in Jakob's is so so. Inside the cafe is so shabby and dirty. There was an unfriendly man behind the counter who did not want to give us a table until we agreed to have more than just deserts. We will not revisit this place.
