I am sorry but this was a total disappointment. It felt like I had gone back in time and was in a WW2 dining hall. No atmosphere, terrible smell, bad service for a hefty price. Give it a miss

This place was a total wild card. I knew nothing about it other than what I had read on here. I’m not of Czech or Slovak origin, so I don’t real feel I have the authority to comment on the authenticity of the cuisine. But if you want to enjoy good, honest, no frills food in a relaxed environment, this is the place for you. The waiting staff were lovely and it was fantastic value for money (about £90 for two courses and plenty of wine for four people). Thanks for a fantastic start to a great night.

I dine at the czechoslovak restaurant regularly, with friends and older relatives, we are always met by welcoming restaurant staff and love their tradidional, and incredibly delicious meals. I have had the opportunity to speak to the owners of the restaurant who even asked us what we would like to see in the menu as we frequently visit the Czech Republic, and hence we're familiar with their cuisine. The prices are extremely good value for money, considering their portion sizes, and it is evident that they try to cater for a large variety of customers. It is a truly unique experience.

Excellent food and atmosphere? I beg to differ. The restaurant part of the house looks like a copy of an old-fashioned post-communist dining hall, which, while it may have the retro charm for others, was absolutely not appealing to us. As for the meal, we left after having been served the main dishes, as they were very fatty, and all without exception undercooked. All in all, despite the relatively moderate prices, at the end we felt that the restaurant was still far too expensive for the value offered. As such, what I hope is that London will soon have a restaurant serving meals truly indicative of the lovely Czech and Slovak cuisine.

EXcellent food in an excellent atmosphere, will go again. The place is the exact copy of a traditional "Hospoda"! A must for anybody who is interested in the czech culture.

Tuesday, March 31, 2009 - The club’s restaurant does appear to cater primarily to ex-pat members missing a taste of home. Our lack of Czech proved quite an impediment, both to explanation of the menu and comprehension of our order, leading to a few mistakes. The food is comforting rather than fancy, and lacks some of the flair of eastern European restaurants we’ve tried elsewhere in London. That said, the club is one of the few places in London where you can try Czech specialities, and resulted in an interesting meal.
