I had not been to Efes 2 for over 2-3 years and was was recently invited to join friends for an evening out. I would have preferred to get a takeaway and invite friends round to my house for the evening. I cannot believe how much the standard has dropped in this restaurant. This is certainly not a restaurant that I will be visiting in the near future and would certainly not recommend to friends and family as this restaurant does not cater for this.
Absolutely appalling.

I booked a table at this restaurant as i have been here before, but not for a very long time 2-3years. i was expecting dancing live music and good food. but unfortunately didn't get a chance to try all these things due to the fact the head waiter very rude with a lot of attitude.when people go to a restaurant they expect a certain type of service cause after all our hard working money is paying for a bit of gratitude not ATTITUDE!
When asked to change seating area he was very difficult about it and rude even though he had plenty of empty seats.
This is my first review and my last hopefully i would not recommend the service or the attitude of the head waiter, unfortunately this restaurant used to be good but.......I don't recommend this anymore.
p.s he overcharged on the bill but we didn't let that attitude or very poor service spoil our night and we had a great night in another restaurant.

We have been to this restaurant several times and have brought large groups of people. We have no complaint with the food, service or entertainment (except on each occasion the waiter forgets to bring coffee and needs to be reminded and the music, especially by the female singer is far too loud). However, on our last visit in November 2011 they added 4 extra set menu meals and 3 bottles of wine to our bill. Because of the noise, low lighting and the way the bill was set out we did not see the error until we got home. It took nearly 4 weeks and several phone calls to recoup some of the overcharging and that only consisted of the 4 meals and part of the service charge. We never received a refund for the 3 bottles of wine that we did not consume.
Efes 2 is a great restaurant for special celebrations but a warning - SCRUTINISE THE BILL VERY CAREFULLY before you pay.

STAY CLEAR OF THIS PLACE - AWFUL.
Service was shocking, waiters arrogant, table got ignored several times (table of 14!), dishes where missing from our order etc etc...
Oh and to top it £20 for a bread basket!

Do yourselves a big favour and steer clear of this restaurant, Waiters arrogant and so slow, several orders never arrived at all. Food almost inedible - have never seen so much uneaten food left on plates. The manager said they had been going for thirty years. High time they stopped.

We recently went to Efes 2 in a large group of people and I must say the quality of service was appalling. The food for half the table arrived on time while the other half had to wait for 30 minutes which created an awkward atmoshphere. The waiters were also unprofessional and aggressive at times.
Music - way too loud.
Quality of food was ok, but service needs to improve.

I met up with my cousin Simon the other day at Warren street, being a Saturday afternoon a lot of places were shut around there so we wandered down to great Portland st. It had been ages since we had both been for turkish food so we thought we would give "Efes 2" a go. I had been to the other Efes rrestaurant up by the BBC some time ago and found that to be pretty good. On entering "Efes 2" you do get the impression it is very much an evening place, it is quite dark and they had all the cabaret paraphenalia stored in the cloakroom. Having said that they had a very good lunch deal on which was starter and main for under £9 so we though we would give it a go.
The starter was a selection of cold meze (humus, tzaziki etc) with plenty of pitta bread, very nice, tasted fesh if a little cold. We had a additional side of halloumi cheese which Simon hadn't tried before and liked a lot. We both went for a mixed grilled lamb and chicken kebab which was really good. This is the sort of thing turkish restaurants get very right. The meat was chared and smoky on the outside but tender and succulent on the inside, absolutly lovely. The meat was good quality and you could tell this was a restaurant doing a domestic classic well. We washed down the meal with a couple of beers. There was no room for desert afterwards but we went for a couple of medium turkish coffees which was a perfect way to end the meal.
All in all a very nice lunch, I don't think I would be into the evening so much with all the entertainment but the food here is good. They proudly state on their menu that everything is prepared and cooked on site. the bill with the extras and service came to £20 a head which was very good. Service itself was professional and helpful rather than friendly but sometimes that suits the occasion. I had to cycle home afterwards or I never would have eaten the dinner at home later

Reading the reviews below I am absolutely stunned. I went to Efes for my birthday and I had a great time.
The staff were extremely friendly, polite and chatty. Almost each waiter wished me happy birthday when they walked by, and the managers kept checking if everything was ok.
The food is not great, but good. I have lived in Turkey so I know good Turkish food. It is great value. £20 for a set meal which includes meze, main meal, fruit and baklava. It was definitely tasty and I enjoyed it.
The music was good. In the reviews below it mentions that there is a woman singer. When I went it was two men, who were good singers, dancers, and flirts!! The belly dancer stayed on for a good half hour, which doesn't happen in other restaurants I have been to with belly dancers.
For a good value restaurant with live music and belly dancing, I definitely recommend Efes. If you're budget is much higher, there are of course better places, but I would definitely go again. Great place and a great night!
