I was happy when i have tried this other Georgian Restaurant in London, as restaurant MIMINO in Kensington was total disappointment with service , but food was great.
Tbilisi itself provides great service , prices and food too.
I’ll defiantly go there again

This was the first time I'd ever eaten Georgian food, after years of being told that it's one of the world's best cuisines. I was quite apprehensive to try Tbilisi but I was not at all let down. The khachpuri bread with aubergine and beetroot "chutneys" was wonderful, a bit expensive for what it was, but I don't know where else you could get this in London! For the mains, we had the chicken satsivi (one of the most interesting flavours I'd ever encountered, and very delicious) and a lamb dish (extremely tasty). The Georgian wine was good too, and I can assure you that aside from any Russian propaganda, this wine was not counterfeit!
As for the atmosphere, it was very simple but modern and stylish, in my opinion, much better than some some sort of kitsch nationalistic design that other ethnic restaurants sometimes go for.
Can't wait to go back...

I have been recently there with a friend. The food was quite tasty, however, compared to other Georgian restaurants I have been so far, rather below average. THe service was friendly and nice there. However, the restaurant is lacking a little bit of atmosphere.

A friend and I meet up about once a month to 'eat around the world' in alphabetical order. Last Tuesday was the night for 'G' and we decided to eschew the more obvious Greece and even Germany to go for the more exotic Georgia. We decided to forge into the unknown (for us!) at Tbilisi in North London.
I'm so glad we did. As soon as we explained that we weren't familiar with Georgian food, the waitress couldn't have been more helpful. Although the list of starters on the menu seemed quite spartan - either soup or a choice of four sharing options - we were so impressed with her description of the cheese bread, we went with the sharing option she recommended. The cheese bread was warm and fresh and lovely, flat and round with a thin filling of sharp white cheese. It came with a hot chopped spiced liver dish that was MUCH nicer than it sounded on the menu, and a sort of Russian salad, the cold creaminess of which contrasted beautifully with the spicy liver.
We picked two traditional main courses also recommended; a thick lamb and aubergine bake and a dish described as minced beef and pork in a wrapping. This turned out to be meat-stuffed dumplings boiled in a sort of stock, which apart from being slightly over-salted, were absolutely delicious. The main courses came with a big bowl of bread, but no other vegetables, so in our ignorance we can only assume that Georgian cuisine doesn't feature too much in the way of vegetables.
The restaurant itself is a study in red and black, but manages not to seem too womb-like because the staff are so charming and the tables well spaced. I can easily imagine it being a great place for a large gathering as well as discreet enough for a romantic meal.
And I would definitely recommend it for anyone who was looking for something that is good value for money and a little more unusual.

We went to Tbilisi last night and had a good time. We took an old friend of ours visiting from the States. We wanted to go somewhere nice and quiet where we can have a good chat for we haven't seen each other for a couple of years. I am glad we chose Tbilisi.
I would recommend it if you would like to have a quiet meal. There was some pleasant Georgian music (not very loud!) playing in the background. The food was good (a bit spicy hot but it is Georgian cuisine, so expected) and the price very reasonable.

This is a gem, particularly in Holloway Road and the northern end of Upper Street area. Pleanty of space between tables, attentive but not invasive service and such pride in their country and its traditions. The food was great, and great value. We will be back soon!

Comments of other reviewers made us so eager that we were a little disappointed, though we hope we hit an off-night. It was a Monday, and the attractive darkened restaurant pretty well-occupied for this day of the week. Service was pleasant enough,
The starters were very good (not quite excellent), the khachapauri (cheesy bread) not quite melt-in-your-mouth), for the other two, if you do not know Georgian food, think tasty meze.
So our appetite whetted, the main courses, one chicken tsatsivi, one lobio (bean) were bland, dull and stodgy. Do not think there was any garlic, or even seasoning. Only a few walnuts for the chicken.
Very un-Georgian, we thought, though how shoudl we, one Russian, one Anglo-American (american-anglo) know?
As London prices go, it was not that expensive, and the place is reasonably elegant, though this part of the Holloway Road is still pretty grim. However, I can't call it great value at £20 a head, with one glass of house Georgian wine.
We are going to try again, ordering just two different sets of the "starter for two", and hope that this was the cook's day off. The only other Georgian restaurant we know in London is somewhere about a mile from Seven Sisters' tube. The next nearest?

A restaurant that I can recommend to Georgian cuisine lovers (and probably to all former Soviets) as well as to anybody else who love superb food, a quiet place and a time when you will not be disturbed by hassling waiters. I enjoyed one evening there and I can't wait going back as I am a fan of Georgia and its cuisine. The wine was excellent, the staff very friendly and discreet. What a change in our busy London!
