I went here with a few friends last night, and was pretty disappointed for the price. The food was pretty average, and the service was really awful. Waited over 40mins for starters. I wouldn't recommend this place.

Melaka is a really authentic Malaysian/Indonesian Restaurant in a good location close to Canary Wharf. I took a number of colleagues there yesterday, we really liked the Satay (particularly the prawns). The satay sauce was obviously home made and really good (unlike peanut sauce you normally get in the UK).

For mains we got a number of dishes including the steamed seabass, which was really superb. I also had the broad rice noodles which was really fantastic, as was the beef rendang.

The interior is very simple but has a clean trendy feel to it. The staff were attentive but not overbearing (lets face it most oriental restaurants are a bit much).

A definite no no at Melaka,

I had read the previous reviewer's comments and had expected some authentic cuisine and great service. What we got was poor service, misplaced orders, cold food and no apologies. I

If you are going to spend this kind of money on a meal for two, you expect to be given some degree of welcome and service but all we saw was a haughty waiter who didn't want to be there.

The food was distinctly average and tasted like it had come out of a microwave. I definitely won't be going here again in a hurry.

I liked this restaurant. It's very much a residents hang out, not well known outside Limehouse. That said the food is excellent and very authentic (I spent time in Singapore so I should know!).

The drinks prices are average, about £20 for a good bottle of wine whilst the food is on the cheap side. I think my entire food bill for two was less than £40. The staff are very attentive and the manager himself spends time talking to the customers.

Melaka is a lot more laid back than the restaurants at Canary Wharf and is worth a visit. I really liked the Kang Kong, which is very hard to get hold of in the UK.

I will definately be going back!
