Just been to S M D S for my son's 14th, he had seen them on the "F" word and wanted to eat there.

This was the best time we have had in a restaurant for a very long time in the U.K. We also have a 14 month old baby and a 11yr old. The staff made us feel like the most important customers to them, we had our baby cuddled and carried around to see the whole family. Both our other children were talked to, joked with and the staff did everything to make us feel part of the family and it felt as if we have eaten there on many occasions.

The food was totally delicious best steak i have ever had hands down....melt in the mouth meat that needs no fuss.

We left the restaurant on a total high having the owner see us out the door and waving bye to us from the window. We will definitely go back,we loved it all.Its very rare to be able to eat with the age groups we have and feel welcome, have a delicious meal with the children being part of the experience.

If you want outstanding steak and have a really enjoyable time, with or without the family Santa Maria will do that job faultlessly

It was our second time and unfortunately disappointing. The steaks were rather rough and not tender at all. We asked for well-done and the pieces were half burnt. The chips were oily and they tasted as if the oil used to fry them was used for a year.

The bread was nowhere near fresh.

We have been to Argentina very often so can compare the quality of the food with the real thing.

On the whole the meat is good, cooked exactly to order and quite tender. Portions are generous but they should be at that price.

Chorizos and empenadas were very tasty. The only quibble were the dulce de leche pancakes which arrived a few minutes after we ordered them. Definitely not made on the spot.

Service is very friendly and seemed to cope well even though the restaurant is popular for birthday parties.

Have passed the window so many times and thought 'Oh that looks nice' it was better than nice, it was delicious. Have been a few times now and when i fancy a good steak, its the first place i think of. Initially it was the gaucho but the restaurant experience is also about the atmosphere, wine and comfortablity. Santa Maria del Sur is a winner on all.

Great food - great place - great atmosphere. One of our favourite restaurants in London, service has always been amazing. Although we were disappointed last time we went as the service was much lower than what we are used to. Hopefully that was just a one off!

Provender

Provender - 31/40

Monday, May 26, 2008 - We had passed Santa Maria del Sur several times on the way back from friends' houses and it always looked extremely welcoming, especially in winter with the grill flaming in the window and fairy lights twinkling. We had no problem booking a table for 2 at 8.30pm (I called on the Monday) and when we arrived it was half full already, buzzing with chat and unobtrusive music.

@AndyLynes - Have used ours twice and found it much the same as tomato puree. Perhaps we've missed a trick?
