Beautiful Location, Lovely food! Fantastic cocktails.... However!

Our Waitress was awful!! We booked the fine dining area for a birthday party and she was irritable and sarcastic.

The ground floor staff were lovely and very friendly and our male waiter was very attentive... Not to mention handsome (hehe..) But That young lady brought the team down!

To say the least she wasnt tipped....

Not a cheap party, we spent arounf £1200 but it was worth every penny.... apart from the young lady mentioned earlier!

Utter complete rubbish, I'm Argentinian and I know my asado and was invited by a couple of friends of mine (bless em) and really this is an insult to be honest. An asado doesn't have to be pretentious and this takes the biscuit.

The staff could at least PRETEND to be interested in looking after the customers.

Had to walk out as having to wait forever for "starters" was just silly.

Went to the Gaucho last night for a family reunion, which really needed to be a special night. In short the place is well over rated, offers poor service and is over priced!!

Firstly there's nothing Argentinian about it!! The place plays subdued dance/chill out music in what is a dark room, with very busy and overcrowded tables. They have a young staff that are more interested in chatting to one another than making sure our starters get to the the table on time. For some reason 2 of the 5 starters we ordered were forgotten and we had to wait another 15 minutes for those to be reordered, made and brought to the table! We had to ask for cutlery and side plates for our bread and main course more than 3 times as they never replaced what had been used on the previous courses, to be honest not sure why they wear all these communication radios and ear pieces...must be so they don't get bored on shift and can be constant contact with one another if they get bored. Not even one ear piece wearing manager came over to ask how our food was...!

I will never go back there again. If you want to put hefty price tags on food then the service needs to go with it. I live in Dubai were things are even more expensive but you're sure to get a level of service that matches the price tag!!

Qué vergüenza!!

After having had fantastic food at various other branches I was looking forward to the by now obligatory great food and great dining experience. Unfortunately it was a chore rather than a pleasure, food was good, but the service was terrible. Having to wait well over an hour and 15 minutes for a table in what was a half empty restaurant started the evening off poorly. The meet and greet staff, usually so attentive, were miserable and generally rude. Once we finally managed to get to the table our first waitress was thoroughly uninterested and we had to wait another half hour to order our food. Thankful well into the main course she was replaced by someone more befitting Gaucho. In short, if you want great steak and great dining experience go to Smiths of Smithfield or the Butler's Wharf Chop House, if you want a thoroughly poor dining experience then I guess you go to More London.

Visited Gaucho last night for the second time and the food was again completely outstanding. I had a sirloin and my boyfriend had a ribeye- both of which were cooked to perfection. The service was also great and we had a great meal and evening. The view of Tower Bridge was stunning and we were lucky enough to get a window seat. It is pricey, but is a great place to go for a treat.!

Despite having booked over a week in advance, we were given one of the worst seats in the house – right next to the till…krrrching! Most annoying. I tried to get ‘our server’ to improve the seating, but failed – being given a whole load of ‘reasons’. This is the singular most annoying habit of restaurant staff – no idea of whom/how to give preference and make a guest feel good. Still, she did suggest a wine that turned out to be very good.

The light is far too low to be able to read the menu successfully. Luckily the wife had eagle eyes. The food was good – no denying. Though, I did ask for my steak to be ‘medium’ but was clearly ‘well-done’. No harm, just displays a lack of respect for the animal. And the side chips – supposed to be ‘hand-cut’ – if they were, it must have been a 4 year-olds hands…no one else could get such tiny pieces.

Again, the chips tasted fine, its just the spin that bothers me. Just call it ‘chips’ and be done with it. Why the ‘hand-cut’ bit and insult my intelligence?

The desert was very very clearly bought from a shop earlier in the week – avoid the cheesecake guys.

The ambience was nice – except for the till noise, service OK. In all, the evening was saved by the wine and the company……

Will only go back if forced as part of a wider consensus.

Started nicely with a bowl of seeds and a whisky at the bar. Things went downhill from here. I was sat in a seat that was ridiculously low; 6'3 isn't particularly tall, but I felt like my knees were around my ears. Bread, oil and butter then turned up, but we unfortunately had no side plates or bread knives. One of the breads was nice but the other was stale. I went for the 300g fillet, which was OK, but not remarkable at all. It didn't help that we were not given steak knives - have you ever heard of such a thing? The sides were alright, nothing special. We weren't shown the different meats, even though we saw others being shown them - I guess we were in the cheap seats. The wine list is extensive but over-priced - you'll be hard pushed to find a glass for under £9. I'd heard a lot about Gaucho - although I will now not be returning, having paid £95 for 1 course each; 4 drinks and 2 sides between us. Not that much cheaper than Maze, but incredibly inferior.
