My partner and I eat here a lot; its fantastic. Stick with the duck and barbecued meats and you will not go far wrong. The staff get better as they get to know you. The wine list needs some work though!

By far the best quick and affordable Chinese restaurant in Soho/Chinatown area of London. I've been going to Canton for many years and its always great value, serving authentic and delicious food, with no messing about. For the best deals you have to be a little bit careful about ordering, but its possible to have a very good dinner for under 10 pounds per head. The service is always quick and efficient, and its great if you want to eat before going to the cinema or theatre.

I tend to judge a restaurant by its efficiency, food and clientele, and in my experience Canton is usually busy, filled with all kinds of people, in groups or on their own and with a lot of local Chinese people. I think this is an excellent restaurant.

i have been coming here for 20 years and i never had a bad meal.

the food is always superb and i would go here all of the times but often my partner want somewere more like a proper romantic restaurant. this place is more like a fast food place but the quality of the food is more like a fab restaurant.

i often travel to Hong Kong and Singapore and the food at Canton always brings me back to those places. is perfect for me.

The fact that the bad reviews on here come from people who can barely type in English and they don't actually say what exactly was wrong with the food or the restaurant as a whole, leads me to believe they're probably written by local competing restaurant owners.

The fact is that Canton is (and always has been) fantastic for cheap and dirty food, piled high and served within minutes. The roast/crispy pork is unparalleled.

Yes it's not an upmarket establishment, and there's nothing frilly about the service or presentation, but that's not the point of the Canton. Anyone with half a brain would realise that the minute they walk in.

Don't go here for a romantic meal, but do go if you like tasty food efficiently served and at a fantastic price (approx. £5 for food and a pot of tea).

It a bad place to just grab cheep food ( as reported), they were not busy, when i went, yet pushy with the service and rush you in and out. too dirty for me as you see the staff downstair when you go to the W.C , so won't be go again
