Maroush Gardens

Nice atmosphere for families and very good lebanese food. We had raw lamb with garlic sauce, a nice alternative to the more pickled "steak tartare", a very good Fattoush Salad, and a very nice starter of Soujok sausages with cooked tomato slices.

Then, instead of carrying on with small dishes we overdid it slightly by ordering two mains. The quantities are quite large, but food very good again, Lamb Shawarna and Baby Chicken charcoal grilled - a large baby partly deboned and spatchcocked. They said they didn't have Lamb Shawarma - so we pointed out their cheaper restaurant next door, as we were getting tired of them saying they didnt have this (Sweetbreads) or that (kidneys) and I knew they served the Lamb Shawarma next door. They dont do sweetbreads or kidneys in Ranoush juice Kings Road either on Sundays - is there a Sunday problem or a menu issue?

Anyway sister got her Lamb Shawarma but there was enough to feed two or for each to have shared a main. The waiters seemed a little tired out but they at least leave you in peace and it makes an ideal place for a conversational afternoon rather than a rushed lunch.

We were very impressed by that and the food, and wish the waiters and staff more confidence or energy as the quality was very high indeed.

With one and a half bottles of Lebanese white, and large bottle of still, we paid £90. Those on a budget or short of time are highly recommended Ranoush juice next door where a Lamb Shawarma in flatbread is only about £3.50 or £4. It was a nice smart place and a very good afternoon.

One note of warning, on a wet day, be careful of the shiny marble floor in the entrance area, it was very slippy.
