Four of us visited on 19th March 2010.
Fabulous food and the best Chinese we have eaten since we left Hong Kong where we lived for 8 years.
Peking Duck was carved and served at the table.
The other food was amazing.
Above all the service was friendly and attentive.
I'm taken another friend there on Friday

We visited for the first time in November and had such a great meal that we brought some friends back in mid December. The staff, like the first time were very pleasant, informative and friendly - much better service than I've encountered anywhere else in Chinatown.
The food was amazing and just as good as the first visit. We had half a crispy duck which was delicious and served and cut up in front of us, the fabulous salt and pepper squid, scallops and cashew nuts, special fried rice, chicken in chilli and black bean and chilli beef which were all fabulous. We had quite a lot to drink too and the bill was very reasonable considering how much we all ate.
Will definitely be back, the food and service is miles better than anywhere else I've eaten at Chinatown for as long as I can remember.

We've have been going to New Diamond for ten years now but since the facelift a couple of years ago less so, still we were in town a couple of Saturday's ago and really fancied Chinese so we went to an old favourite.
The staff were as pleasent as always considering how busy they are but the food was a massive let down. this place used to be so good and cheap too but now the prices have been hiked up and at the same time food has really lowered.
first off We ordered seaweed that was served cold! the ribs in chili and salt were good but the won ton soup was mushy and overbearing but then the duck came.
Its the first time I have ever been in a restaurant where the duck had been cut up and served away from view, now this made us suspicious that it was obviously bits of leftovers from a previous diners meal, it was not at all crispy and we left half of it, a first for duck. the pancakes were soggy and the onions and cucumber dry.
On top of that two other tables around us complained that their food too was cold.
I'm writing this because I like New Diamnond but I'm afraid I will never eat there again as there is no excuse for such sloppy standards.
I hope they read this and really try to get back to making good food

It seems as if we now only ever visit this restaurant when we come up to London but as we have always enjoyed the experience why not. This last time, the only bad comment was that they didn't have any of the white wine we wanted (Muscadet), already chilled in the cooler so rather than wait we chose a substitute. The food was good as ever, especially the crispy duck.
