If you wana go to 1997 to enjoy some "high class chinese restaurant" amosphere, then you are in a wrong place. 1997 is one of those typical everyday life chinese restaurant in asia, you go there to enjoy the culture then those fancy celebration.. its the same as going to some good old pub to have some chuncky old fries, not necessary good, but its classic!. the best dish from 1997 i would recomand is " fu-ken fried rice", its quality food...almost is the best out of china! I'v tried so many place in china town for this dish ,and 1997 is the best! its dark sauce with diced duck ,squid and some pepper on the egg fried rice..the price is good, its big enough to share for two....go there for this dish, try it,its goooood!~~~

Pig Pig's Corner

Pig Pig's Corner

Saturday, April 03, 2010 - We messed up and ordered the ngau lam gon hor (braised beef brisket with dry flat rice noodles) by mistake instead of the one CK ordered. Didn't stop us from enjoying the beef though, cooked to soft goodness and to me, full of delicious beefy flavour. I had a wa daan hor (wok fried rice noodles in a thick egg gravy), an old childhood favourite of mine. The koay teow had that great smoky aroma as well which isn't always present from chefs. The taste of the gravy was just right and not over or under seasoned.

@manne We're yet to find a Thai in the West End that's mind-blowing but Siam Central (Charlotte St) is very good (and cheap!)
