Bland food that is not authentic. Very indifferent service bordering on rudeness. Staff can be heard talking loudly amongst themselves in front of customers.

My wife's wonton noodle soup was tasteless with mushy overcooked noodles and my pork belly was just passable. The potions were also rather small.

Overall, very poor value for money, but what would you expect in touristy Chinatown when you don't have to maintain decent standards to fill a restaurant?

Tamarind and Thyme

Tamarind and Thyme

Wednesday, May 22, 2013 - They have a great lunch deal – £4.80 for a dish of rice or noodles with a free bowl of their daily soup. We chose the char siu on fried hor fun which came out looking quite plain but turned out to be some well fried hor fun topped with a generic Asian brown sauce and some quite good sliced char siu. A bit of chili oil (excellent stuff) and it was a great dinner. The accompanying soup was a bonus.

Saturday, April 03, 2010 - We messed up and ordered the ngau lam gon hor (braised beef brisket with dry flat rice noodles) by mistake instead of the one CK ordered. Didn't stop us from enjoying the beef though, cooked to soft goodness and to me, full of delicious beefy flavour. I had a wa daan hor (wok fried rice noodles in a thick egg gravy), an old childhood favourite of mine. The koay teow had that great smoky aroma as well which isn't always present from chefs. The taste of the gravy was just right and not over or under seasoned.
