Top notch!!

SE london pub. decor cool, vibe cool, food FANTASTIC...and I mean fantastic.

Fresh produce cooked with sensitivity and style...can not fault it for the taste and the more than reasonable price charged! ..AND fresh fish on the menu...and I mean FRESH!

Service fab but hey its a pub so you're not looking for "hows your meal" every 5 seconds!

I would totally recommend for anyone looking for a friendly local with above average ..actually WAY ABOVE AVERAGE...food and menu.

They do a good quiz night too.

And wahey...its my local...I am soooo lucky (at last!)

WOW, is this really my new local?

A very small menu but everything is so well conceived and delivers on every dish. Been twice in the last few weeks and between us we've pretty much done the menu.

We're happy, proper meat dishes served alongside exciting vegetarian and always a vegan dish....they really do try and deliver for all foodie types and guess what they are doing it well....

Only slight worry was the service, first time was great, second time not the best

Sunday roast booked in for next week, will let you know.

Took the old dear here for mothers day & cannot fault the place - a laid back vibe with very tasty food, & plenty of it.

During the week its cosy & quiet while on the weekend they have DJ's & a bit of a party.

Will be back soon.

We moved back to Dalston about four months ago and spent the first few weeks trawling all the nearby pubs to find our new local - and I have to say, the Talbot won by a mile. The staff are all lovely, the menu short but nicely balanced and well executed and an atmosphere that is neither too hipster-pretentious or middleclass.

I like that you can come for a quiet drink during the week, a bit of a night of out with DJs at the weekend and of course, most importantly, a crackin' roast on a lazy Sunday afternoon.

Wines are considered, and the selection by the glass is very good as well; their spirit offering has some substance behind it. I'm normally very dubious of cocktail lists in pubs. Like I would never ever even look twice, but on a sunny summer afternoon on the Talbot's terrace we ended up with some perfect margaritas.

Sundays started to get a bit hectic a few weeks back and on one occasion we had a bit of a ropey roast. We said something, more because we like the place rather than for the sake of complaining, and our concerns were dealt with seriously. Back the next week, and the roasts were back to their usual greatness, and last week's was probably the best I've ever had: super rare beef, crispy roast potatoes and a big pile of un-obliterated vegetables. My Northern-lad companion said the Yorkshire's were almost as good as his mum's.

I have eaten at the Talbot a lot over the last few months, especially since the new management but I had the Sunday roast today, which I've had a few times before but somthing has changed, mainly the food.

The staff have always been excellent but the meal today was way beyond what we we're used to and a menu which we have not seen before, a gastro pub trying to be different.

I had smoked duck pancakes - a far from whta you expect, this was slices of smoked duck breast caramilised with an accompliment of citrus fruits, followed by roast beef - beef still pink and served witha truly tasty selection of veg - red cabbage like I've never had.

My friends also enjoyed their meal which consisted of soft shelled crab and ham hock terrine.

Our only complaint was we had to wait for main courses due to a technical hitch with Yorkshire puddings - atleast they were honest.

Loved it and reccomend this place to all.
