Mirch Masala (Croydon)

I completely disagree,

I know its a matter (paneer !) of taste, but i've not found a restaurant like it anywhere, including india where i forfeited my health for bland food. i feel so blessed to have an amazing restaurant exactly where i live (croydon), where the waiters are amazing and do not just stand around, i will try the norbury restaurant but i dont see how the croydon one can be bettered,

I really can't understand how this place is so busy. In fact, I do understand - it's the name, "Mirch Masala". So-called authentic cuisine - ha! The food is abysmal, the service diabolically surly. They have a whole legion of waiters, most of whom stand around ignoring the dining room full of customers.

About the food, don't get me wrong, the food at Mirch Masala Norbury is TOP quality - but the Croydon branch is extremely disappointing. The chef really needs to learn how to impart some decent flavour into his food.

I have been to the lunchtime buffet on many occasions - £6.99 for a choice of 6 starters, nan bread, pilau and 4 meat/chicken curries, plus 3 vegs! Well cooked food in a modern setting. Plus the fact that it is a BYO with no corkage -great!

If you go with a big group - I 've been with 20 people plus, you need to insist on individual bills. We got into a great mess, but the restaurant went with the adage- "the customer is always right", and did not make us pay for items in dispute.

Al la carte also good value, and the biryani is Pakistani rather than English i.e. no veg curry on the side! They will also make you any dish you want with 24hrs notice.

Kitchens are also in full view of the diners, clean and tasty food.
