Went to local friends for mothers day and was so disappointed, even though they have changed the decor the food has just got worst.

Dim sum was definitely frozen from the Chinese supermarket an they couldn't even cook that right ! Portion size has shrunk considerably !!

Local friends used to be OK ! But now it is well below average!!

WOULD NOT GO BACK !!

Anyway, it seems to have suffered from a drop in standards in this time. I'm not sure if this could be attributed to complacency or a change in management, or some combination of the two. The food is still above average, though.

The service has become a bit indifferent, I find.

Tough call on the decor. It's had a refurbishment and the new guise is more clinical than before. Normally I'd hate this but it seems to work here. However, I do find the use of space is just not quite what it was. Everywhere I go I find I'm in someone's way. But it does look nice.

Prices are not too bad I think. I could always find somewhere cheaper, but it's still nice enough to be worth worrying about.

I still go there. It's a tradition to do so.

I've lived in Golders Green for over 2 years and have visited Local Friends Chinese restaurant many times during that period (for both eating in and takeaway). Sadly, what used to be a great restaurant has gone downhill over the last 12 months. They used to do a great chicken satay, but the last time we had it the chicken was off. They recently refurbished the restaurant so I thought I'd give them another chance, but they fell far short of my expectations and the chicken was not fresh again. I also asked for vegetables with the dish I'd ordered and was told that it came with these, but was very disappointed to find it only contained chilli's and the meat, and way too many chillis! When I think back over the last 2 years, there have been many times that they messed up our order; they regularly forget the sweet & sour sauce with the spring rolls, and forget to add extra items that we have paid for. So I've decided I won't be eating at Local Friends ever again.

Having revisited local friends since it's change of management I can not think of a more inappropriate restaurant. The staff were not only rude but condesensing and mocked me when I made a complaint of one of the items not being cooked properly.

When paying the bill and wishing to complain they claimed they did not speak English and then laughed at us as we left.

From a place that we use to frequent often on Sunday we will never go back again.

I've always loved the food at Local Friends, especially the Dim Sum as a treat over the weekend. A tad pricey, but it tasted great and the service was pretty good too.

Went there recently after some mixed reviews of the new management that have taken over. Menu was updated but opted for the ol' favourite Dim Sum and soon wished we hadn't. They forgot to cook half our order and one waitress even came over assuming we'd finished! Without an apology, we waited another 30 minutes and the food was fairly disappointing as it looked extremely similar to the frozen stuff I get from my local Chinese supermarket. They've kept the name, the decor and the Dim Sum menu, but sadly they've also kept the price for something thats decidedly average.

There are much better Chinese restaurants within walking distance that are much more deserving of your pennies.
