Good news, Golden Palace has reopened after financial difficulties and renamed New Golden Palace. It is a smaller restaurant with ten tables under the same management, the food is still as good and they still serve good dim-sum. I am a loyal customer and found that they have re-opened by chance as I was driving past.

Unfortunately, the Golden Palace has now closed. Judging by the notice from the landlord reclaiming the premises and the pile of post inside the front door, I would guess they went bust.

It was one of North London's better traditional dim sum restaurants. With a good selection of delicately cooked and tasty dim sum, two people could fill their boots for £30. They will be missed.

Went last Saturday and could not believe the poor standard of service and indeed the lack of serving staff. Four of us had the set Szechuan Feast. The wait between courses was at one point 1 1/2 hrs. What few staff there were deliberately looked away or ignored us when we tried to catch their attention. As we were taking guests who had not been to the Golden Palace before it was very embarassing. Needless to say we declined to pay the service charge which is automatically added to the bill here. However the food when it eventually came was excellent.

World Foodie Guide - 7.5/10

Thursday, March 26, 2009 - The decor won’t win Golden Palace any interior design awards, but then we didn’t travel all the way to Harrow for elegant decor. The restaurant is large and airy, and even full of diners, it never felt too crowded or noisy. And I very much appreciated the friendly service…I’m looking forward to returning to try some of the other dishes, including deep fried sautéed prawn and chive dumpling, grilled turnip cake, yam croquette, deep fried Thai cuttlefish cake and sago & pomelo in mango cream.
