We went to the Golden Palace Restaurant last night for dinner, everything about the place was horrible. Since we hadn't booked a table we were made to sit near the bar not in the actual restaurant, which made us feel unwanted. The service was very poor, it felt like no one cared or were just not interested. The food took ages to come, almost a 45 minutes to an hour wait between the starter and main course. And when you ask for anything extra, they forget. And the plates were chipped as well. Also the bill is in Chinese, so you can't really check what you're paying for.

I'm definately never going there again and wouldn't recommend it to anyone.

I visited Golden Palace Restaurant in Harrow. I saw the name on the Harrow webpage. The place was a complete rip-off. I was asked several times if I was by myself and when I got the bill I was shocked. They had charged 2.70 for a bowl of plain rice, 1.50 for a glass of coca cola and 1 pound for service. I beleive these prices are over the top. For 2.70 I could get a whole kilo of rice. The food was oke, though not supergood.

I will not visit this place ever again.

We had a party of five people. The food was tasty and everybody enjoyed it. Typical surly service we tend to get into Chinese Restaurants in London though. Waiter (male) busy telling us what we will order, but hey I thought we were the customer? Overall we went away happy with the food

This renowned restaurant is full all the time and the waiters still manage an air of friendly efficiency. Together with the ambience generated by a clientele which obviously knew they are dining in one of the better places in Harrow and the exciting bustle of a full-on kitchen between the dining rooms and the bar, one couldn't have wished for a better experience.

The menu was augmented by Specials. There's nothing worse than entertaining a client or loved one, and finding that the 'fancy Duck restaurant' you've taken them to is nothing more than a dolled-up greasy spoon! Don't panic! This restaurant has the best crispy duck to make your mouth water with juices.

Im sorry to see some grumpy reviews about this well-loved Harrow restaurant. Life would be pretty blue if it wasnt for this fine Chinese restaurant in my home town. The dim sum is an excellent weekend lunch choice (and doubles as a very effective hang-over cure) and dinners are always a wonderful success ... Yes, the staff can be a little under-enthusiastic about their work at times, but it has never deterred me or my family from returning to this great little eatery in North London. 10 out of 10 from me Golden Palace!

I was recommended to Golden Palace in Harrow by a friend and I have to say I was not disappointed.

The dim sum arrived thick and fast and had a lovely range of choices. A particular favourite being the Black bean chicken feet, spare rib rice hot pot and the glazed topped custard filled bun (which I was told its called "Bor Lor Bau" by the Waiters).

There seemed to be a slight lack of staff but were still friendly.

The food was excellent several years ago, now it is good. They used to be a 9 or 10/10. Not anymore. I have noticed a slight decline in quality of food. Their dim sum is always good and what a range. Their crispy chilli beef used to be brilliant, but is now fair. Their starters I've ordered are tasty and varied. I've heard that their fried rice is excellent.

The service used to be effecient and still is, but there has been two lapses in service. One time they mixed up the order and served it cold and another time they ignored us and left us standing by the door while the waiters chatted at a table (there was only one family eating at the time). The service to us has never been friendly or welcoming. I don't remember a waiter/ress ever smiling. They can border on rudeness when they ignore you or rush you out. They don't do this to regulars.

It still stands out in Harrow, but not like it used to.

What a difference 3 weeks had made. On our first ever visit, we were very impressed with the food from the Malaysian menu. The food tasted very similar to food served in Malaysia. We were there last Friday(30.03.07). We ordered 2 of the same dishes we had ordered 3 weeks ago but on this occassion it was cooked diffently and obviously tasted different. We also had a mouthful of grit with the vegetable. They can`t have made too much effort washing it. The curry fish(monk fish) came well presented in a claypot but we were very disappointed when the flavour tasted similar to sauce from Rajah curry sauce (which is sold on the high street) with starchy texture to it.

Very disappointed and will not be returning.
