Le Bistro offers consistently good French food. It's not a cheap place to eat. Service is good. Manager and head-waiter Arnaud knows his wines very well and does his best to please customers. I've never had a bad meal at Le Bistro, and I must have eaten there more than ten times.

Inconsistent. Have eaten here three times in the last year. First time was excellent, second time absolutely bloody awful and the third time (considerably later) was indifferent. We are English but spend a lot fo time in France and this business would be run of the mill on the other side of le manche. On the second visit we had gone for a meal with friends for my birthday and the service was slow even by French standards, the food arrived cold and the owner seemed more interested in talking to friends at the bar (the previous reviewer perhaps??). The one saving grace is that having made a complete mess of our special evening he had the uncommonly good grace to knock the drinks off the bill. Perhaps he had a guilty concience. The last time we went the experience was vastly improved to the level of being indifferent. Have never felt that unwelcome, his loss - we eat out twice a week at this style of establishment.

That was my last restaurant before heading back in France. After some marvellous and disastrous eating in London. A frriend of mine took me to one of is neighbourhood restaurant: Le Bistro.

Very funny place to go. The owner Arnaud is such a sweetheart, a typical french gentleman. He suggested us a wine from Alsace to start by the glass. Perfect.

We had some Razor clams to follow, magnifique as we say in French. To follow the Leg of Duck was more than honest. Our wine a bordeaux called Malartic something was for 29£ a bargain.

We decided to finish our meal with cognacs and we stay for at least one hour chatting with 2 gorgeous girls sitting right next to us.

A fantastic little charming french restaurant on Hornsey High Street.

I went there with my boyfriend for the first time on a Thursday night. The food was very good value for money 2 course for £11 or 3 course for £13 and it was absolutely beautiful.

The staff were really efficient and polite, the owner even offered my boyfriend some snails to try! Definately recommend it and will be going back very soon.

Went for the first time on Friday night after hearing some good reviews. Really enjoyed Le Bistro, nice atmosphere and really good food. Had the 3 course set menu at £13, simple brie starter, steak frites and ice cream - all presented well and tasty.

Owner came across and had a nice chat as we had coffee too, explaining a bit about the place etc. Would definately return, most likely branching off the set menu as the menu 'proper' looked excellent, with starters around £6 and mains at £14-ish.

Have been going to this restauant regularly for last couple of years and have always had good food and good choice of wine. As a result booked Valentines dinner here on Sat night just gone.Table had been booked in advance for 9 pm, when arrived had to wait outside for 10 minutes in the cold with other customers as they sorted out the tables, although the restrant appeared empty inside?

Eventually was sat in a ridiculously cramped table against a radiator that was roasting hot-asked to move table-no problem.

The atmostphere at this point was becoming very un romantic as no one in the Le Bistro was being served-!

Being a laid back person as is my partner we let it pass but after 40 minutes of not even being offered a drink we got up and left. Shame as I have always recommened this place to friends-will not be doing so again!

We got a table luckily a 10pm at a great Tapas restraunt 5 doors down called

La Pedera-will recomed this in future!
