My family and I have eaten in this restaurant many times and we enjoyed it for much that I had my wedding reception there. I did my work experience in the restaurant at 14 and was very impressed with the clean, organised and lack of swearing that went into producing tasty food. I can especially recommend the chocolate orange pot, its delicious.

In fact we like it so much that we are going back there again tonight for my uncles 60th.

Having eaten here on and off for the past 15 years I have NEVER had a bad meal and in fact I am about to join a large party for our annual Christmas Meal tomorrow. My family and I have even spent Christmas day at this restaurant and the food, service and ambience were fantastic. I eat in first class restaurants (Michelin), my father is a chef and I cook myself so I know about seasonality, freshness and ingredients so am very surprised at some of the comments received. I can only say it must have been an "off day" but as I have never experienced this, possibly people's tastes are different! I would HIGHLY RECOMMEND this restaurant for its varied menu (Christmas menu could do with updating as it has been the same for too many years), pricing and also its wine list and I particularly find the comment with regard to the wine as unfair as they do have an extensive, varied list that should suit any discerning palate. In a word, don't believe all the bad reviews, simply try for yourself.

After reading the reviews here, I wasnt so sure of spending my birthday with my wife at Cafe Anjou. But we went afterall, and were very impressed. The service was good, the price affordable, the food wonderful and the atmosphere brilliant. Will surely visit them again.

Being French I am always interested to find some nice French restaurant.

There for I was interested when HSBC offered a 2 dine for 1 price at the Cafe Anjou..........

We booked and what a disappointment!!!!!!!!!!!!

First the prices are much too high for the "quality" served, the meals were tasteless (pork with dried apricots and cote de boeuf which was actually a little steak!!!!!!!!!!) and the menu was as short as possibly can!

Other issues were atrocious spelling mistakes on the menu itself!

Really what a disgrace and what a waste of our time!!!!!!!

Sorry guys if you want to apply French prices try to deserve the name!

I've been coming to this restuarant of and on for a number of years and each time I have come away feeling that I have had one of the best meals, ever! The standard of coolking can easily surpass those more pricey establishments in central London without burning a hole in your pocket.

The staff I have always found friendly and courteous and make you feel welcome once you enter the restuarant.

Overall I recommend anyone in the Southgate/Palmers Green/Winchmore Hill area to visit Cafe Anjou as it not only serves good food, but is a good introduction to French Cuisine

we have just moved into the area and did not think we would have to have booked to go back to chez gianni restaurant in southgate but they could not fit us in for 1 hour my wife could not wait and so we went to what we thought would be the same sort of style and standard ,how wrong could we have been , the food was bland the service poor and even the wine was not a very good house white.next time we will def wait for a table at chez gianni.

I couldn't believe the latest review of this restaurant. I have always had an excellent meal here and have had no hesitation about recommending it to my friends. I live locally so eat here quite a lot. I haven't eaten here for about 5 months though so hope that the standards haven't dropped which would be such a shame. I've also always had great service here. Maybe the restaurant was just having a 'bad hair day'. I hope that's all it was because I would be very sad if their standards have gone down hill.

Our first visit to Cafe Anjou began promisingly enough. We were greeted by a very friendly waiter and drinks order was taken promptly. My starter of parsnip soup was delicious, however my husband likened his salmone roulade to something that had come out of a packet from the supermarket. With the high hopes that our main course would something to look forward to, I was extremely disappointed when my lamb brochettes marinated in mint and garlic at nearly £11 essentially turned out to be an almost flavourless chargrilled lamb kebab skewer. My husband was even more disappointed that his rib eye steak at almost £13 was 50% grissle and fat - so much so that he had to spit more than one mouthful into his napkin! Add on the £7 for a 'selection of vegetables' which the waiter suggested (we were basically charged for four portions of side vegetables which we were not forewarned of - we only ate half so would only have ordered two portions if we had known!) and this was a very expensive and average meal. Although the restaurant itself and the service could not be faltered, this does not do enough to justify the sub-standard quality of the food. We won't be going back.

My Wife and I have been going to this restaurant for many years as we live locally and have found it to be excellent over a long period of time. I was amazed at some of the other negative reviews as I have always found the food, ambience and service to be of high quality. I have had no difficulty recommending this restaurant to friends.
