I like to share the experience i have when i went with my friends and my wife to Cafe Anjou on 18/10/09. I went there for a dinner, we have duck, chicken, lamb and beef. The main courses was the third time i go to this restuarant. We hear the restuarant was changed hands. We have not realised the new owner, The quality of the food and the service was extremely wonderful and the price we pay was extremely surpising for us. The amount of food we have the price was cheap and the quality was excellent and i like to share this information with others and i will go back there very soon again.

Cafe anjou. what happened!! we used to eat here all the time and loved it. Was once, without a doubt the best cuisine available in Palmers Green. Far above the local standard. The chefs Paul and a tall guy, really knew their stuff and NEVER disappointed. Been there a few times recently and was shocked at the poor, poor excuse of a meal that was served us .Once first class, now an insult to french cuisine. I asked around, and it turns out the place has changed hands. Paul has gone and the new owner obviously hasn't a clue. He, an ex McDonald's worker, [phoned up for a booking and he answered "Hello McDonald's"] has set him self up, and is actually doing the cooking himself. Went in one night was delighted to see that the tall guy was there, and i tell you, you know when he's on. The only good thing left about this place! Been there three times when he's on, and the food was fantastic. This guy knows his stuff!! ***** for the tall guy.
To the new owner: Get out of the kitchen get the tall guy in all the time or have another proper chef, and get the staff out of those tacky uniforms. Have you ever been to proper restaurant, white shirt, black skirt! and please, please bring back the cafe anjou we remember, that was known for years of top quality cuisine.
P.S. Bye Bye Paul. we miss you.

Four of us went to Cafe Anjou three weeks ago having first been there previously a year ago. I must say we were all very disappointed with the food this time round and can only imagine that either the chef or management have changed. The starter terrine was extremely bland and totally lacked seasoning, almost inedible, the duck was overcooked, the pork dish on the menu was equally overcooked and hard. The vegetable dishes were half the size and not of the same quality as our first visit so we did not both with pudding. Even the house wine was disappointing. There was no atmosphere at all in the restaurant and the staff seemed totally disinterested. Not worth the money at all, we will certainly not be going back as there are much better French restaurants around.

We went to Cafe Anjou last night (6/3/09) and were astounded by the rudeness of the Chef. We have been eating at this restaurant for 6 years but had not been for a while and didn't recognise the chef so can only assume it is either a new chef or the place has changed hands. When my partner sent his duck back for being over cooked (he asked it for medium) the chef went mad, came out of the kitchen and asked us what he should do about it and when we suggested that he cook a fresh piece of duck he refused so we walked out. He was so rude and arrogant and also claimed to be the manager, maybe he is but I shall be writing a formal letter of complaint to Cafe Anjou and will most certainly not be eating there again.
