The Diner (Shoreditch)

This place has a cool atmosphere and I confess that is the main reason I used to go there - until last time.

The warm beer didn't surprise me, nor the mediocre chips. And as I didn't have good memories of the burgers, I went for beef burrito. Big mistake. The beef bits (all 4 of them) were of very low quality, the sauce was stupidly hot, the carrots half raw.

I refused to pay for that and the waiter understood me.

went here months ago for saturday brunch. I guess this place is overrated. long line but food was just mediocre.!

Heard good things about the diner and went with high expectations. Having booked for a large crowd (20+) i made certain allowances but i came away quite dissapointed.

The food was good, the portions perhaps a little on the small side but it was nicely cooked and tasted good. A good variety on the menu lots of american dishes that you wont normally see in burger restaurants or even most american style restaurants.

The service however was nothing short of awful even with allowances for being part of a large booking some members of the party waited about 25mins to recieve their drinks after ordering. One half of the group had ordered drinks, received drinks, ordered food, receieved food and were half way through their meal before the other half had even ordered. Orders were wrong and drinks were missing and took three trips back to the bar area before we managed to actually get them to bring the correct number of drinks over.

Staff were miserable, slow and rude and there was not enough of them.

I for one certainly wont be going back there in a hurry.

Oh dear Diner - I have been a loyal regular for years, but my two trips in the last week were both major disappointments.... food still good but the waiting was painful. The waitresses were okay - pretty slow on drinks and gently sauntering around despite a packed restaurant. But something is going on in the kitchen that seems to be making the food ridiculously slow - which is not the point of a diner!
