After wanting to try this place for ages, I was pretty disappointed with the bog-standard food! Whenever I walk past, it is always busy which would make you assume that the food is pretty good. It's reasonably priced and the food isn't bad...but it's not good either.
Two of us went for breakfast - we had a pot of tea, an omelette with three fillings and a veggie breakfast. The mushrooms were tinned, which were disappointing, the hash brown was not home-made and tasted more of cheese rather than potato and onion...but both dishes were huge and neither were finished. It came to around £15 for two, which I thought was good value for money. However, despite this, I won't be returning.

Undoubtedly the worst restaurant I have ever eaten at. I went to the Purple restaurant for dinner on 5 Feb 2012. I ordered the meatballs and spaghetti, my girlfriend ordered the risotto and loin of cod. Firstly the risotto was undercooked. Honestly, who serves up hard rice? The loin of cod that accompanied the risotto (and was heavily recommended by the waitress) did not go with the risotto and so the contrasting (and very bad) flavours clashed considerably. I don’t know, maybe the hard rice was supposed to distract you from the foul taste? The meatballs and spaghetti was bland and watery, with the meatballs piping hot on the outside and lukewarm on the inside. How hard is it to prepare and cook a meatball and spaghetti dish? The sauce, and I use that word loosely, was basically a tin of tomatoes heated up and poured over the (what I imagine to be) microwave defrosted meatballs. We complained and managed to have one of the mains taken off the bill BUT it was still not worth the £20+ it cost. Unless you want to heavily punish your stomach and wallet, avoid this place at all costs.
