I can't say anything about the food, as we walked out before ordering. We were left hanging around for someone to seat us for several minutes last night, until we finally approached a member of staff. She very brusquely told us that we had to go inside, rather than sit outside. We then waited in our booth for several more minutes until we walked out. So, the service at Giraffe is both rude AND inept. I'll never bother to return.

I don't normally write reviews but having read the two negative ones below I felt the need redress the balance. I went here with my boyfriend on New Year's Day we were both a little worse for wear from the night before and more than a little fussy about our food. The lovely staff did us a special order and were so friendly and helpful - really nice. We have been back several times since. It's not gourmet but it is good quality, solid food which is sometimes just what you need. Great place.

Experience was consistently found to be wanting. I was disappointed with the food generally. The cherry crumble was indeed like cereal with fruit. The cheescake was presented with a bar of toblerone on top that fell off before being placed on our table.

Its alright as a bar, I guess. That's it.

The restaurant's location is perfect, right inside the old Spitalfields market. The food and service, however, is not so great.

I went there last night to discover that Giraffe has changed its menu and the only thing I ever ordered (the chicken tandoori burger) had been taken off the menu. I also found that it was virtually impossible to order a chicken dish without having red meat somehow attached to the meal. So, I ordered the falafal burger. Whilst it looked nice, it tasted somewhat plain and very dry.

The restaurant itself looks nice, the building is very spacious and cosy looking. Unfortunately our waiter told us we were unable to sit in a booth in the quiet area as they had all been booked (for the 90 minutes I was there these booths remained free). We were then placed on a table by the kitchen which unfortunately meant that we had to listen to the restaurant's "world music" which it prides itself upon playing, combined with the techno music being played in the kitchen.

The "crumble" was also something to be remembered. It was more of a chunky breakfast cereal mixed with some hot fruit rather than a crumble.
