well i have to say that unlike all the restaurants that sheba was one of the restraunts without the touters, and i know it is hard to believe but everything was very special as promised. i have to thank the workers and the food was excellent.

I went to the restaurant a few days ago with a group of friends. The waiters were very friendly and the service was excellent. What impressed me most was the food itself.
I had King Prawn Butterfly as starter which tasted gorgeous, but the real gem of starter was the chicken chat puree ordered by my friend. For my main dish i had lamb shatkora which was delicious. I highly reccomend you trying this dish. Overall the food quality, service and taste was good, i will definelty fo again.

Sheba is one of many restaurants in Brick Lane where the staff are out on the street ready to pounce on any passers-by, and to rudely interrupt conversations, under the misapprehension that this will endear themselves to you and actually make you want to visit their particular eating house.
Last night, myself and a group of three friends made the mistake of choosing to eat at Sheba. Its many failings are best summed up in bullet points:-
* We were seated close to the door. Big mistake. Every few minutes, one of their 'street team' would roughly fling open the door and shepherd some more (un)willing customers through the door, letting lots of cold air in as they did so.
* We were promised 20% off the bill in order to entice us through the door. Once inside we were also offered four free half pints of Cobra. So much so good. However, when the bill arrived, we discovered that they had cunningly clawed our savings back by charging an exorbitant £7.25 (!) for six poppadums and an assortment of traditional accompaniments. Also, at the end we discovered that we'd been charged for one of our supposedly free Cobras (on the grounds that the guy drinking it wasn't eating) - although they did eventually take this off the bill after we complained.
* The service was slow and surly. The waiters appeared to be either humourless or manically stressed. One of the latter types was loudly man-handling the chairs on the table next to ours as if he had a personal vendetta against them. His rudeness even extended to snatching my close-to-empty pilau rice serving dish out of my hand. Although we ordered four pints of Cobra, only two turned up. By this time, in a state of some despair, I couldn't be bothered chasing them for the missing drinks.
* The food (when it eventually arrived) was not hot (either in terms of temperature or spiciness). Being served on cold plates probably didn't help.
* To sum up, a big disappointment.
