Great food, with loving care from our hosts. I recomend the vegetarian platter, with spicy, colourful dollops of chickpea, cabbage and lentil stews on an enormous pallet of flatbread. Arrive hungry.

Had a wonderful experience at Zeret Kitchen. Taffe is a wonderful hostess and made us feel welcome taking time to explain what each dish comprised of. Would recommend it to anyone looking for an authentic Ethiopian dining experience in London.

Zeret Kitchen is wonderful. Taffe is a delightful, warm and charming host and her food is delicious and satisfying. I have been twice and after both visits I left with a great sense of satisfaction and wellbeing, not only due to the delicious honey wine. It is a sensory experience as you eat with your fingers, take in amazing, varied flavours and textures and experience wonderful aroma such as the freshly roasted coffee beans and frankincense during the coffee ceremony. It truly takes you to another place. This is one of my favourite eateries in London. It is great value and absolutely worth a visit.

I love Ethiopian food and have been to most of London’s Ethiopian restaurants numerous times. I would rate Zeret Kitchen as the best and certainly worth the trip to south London. The injera is fantastic and portions much more generous than the Caledonian Road outfits.

The £25 average price stated here on the website seems high; last month I paid around £30 for 2 people although we only had veggie options but that did include a lot of beer. Highly recommended!

We have been to this restaurant many times. It may not have the best of locations but it's really worth the trip! The food is outstanding and not like anything i'd tasted before. The food (a variety of meat and vegetable dishes and a range of spices) is served on enjerra bread (a bit like a yeasty pancake) and served from a shared platter. The food takes a little while to come but that's ok because it is all cooked fresh and it's certainly worth the wait. It's great value and highly reccomended! Also the service is excellent and they really make you feel welcome. Don't forget to ask for the coffee ceremony. Oh and remember to take cash as they don;t yet accept cards (although there is an ATM over the road).

If you're looking for something interesting, delicious, and a bit different, give this place a try. We always order the sharing platter for two, which consists of dollops of various curries and stews dotted on a huge pancake. You rip off bits of the spongy bread and use this to pick up the curry. The taste is quite tangy and acidic, and very flavourful. Very satisfying stuff.

Plus they have genuine Ethiopian beers, which were also really nice.

We live locally and without a doubt this is the best restaurant in the Camberwell area. In terms of value for money, it is unbeatable – we just had a gourmet Ethiopian meal for two, the Zeret Special, traditionally cooked and full of fresh ingredients, with five beers for £26. The flavours are uniquely satisfying, the atmosphere and hospitality are flawless. The variety of dishes served was an exploration in itself and the whole menu deserves recommendation. It really is unbeatable and puts everything else in the area in the shade. We will be sure to return soon!

We love this place - one of our very favourite places to eat out in London. We always go for the veg selection for two plus a dish of the spicy chicken tibs, and it's always fab. Nice feeling of ritual as the veggie things are dolloped out on the flatbread. Excellent value for money too - under 20 quid for two without a bottle of wine or under 30 quid with.

If you have an aversion to eating with your fingers this is not for you. The wine list is a bit basic, too! But if you want something deliciously different, with lovely food and lots of character, do give Zeret a try.

Cheese and Biscuits - 9/10

Wednesday, April 06, 2011 - Everything we ate at Zeret Kitchen last night was just so mind-blowingly tasty. There was a spicy, dry rub chicken thing, the meat moist & the seasoning complex; there was an astonishing portion of what I want to describe as beef tartare but was, we were assured, not completely raw but actually very lightly fried in what seemed like cardamom; there was a chunk of lamb on the bone, the meat coated in a subtle light dressing of some kind that made you want to gnaw it completely clean; and my favourite of all, a stunning thick chick pea sauce, wonderfully flavoured with smoky, rich spices - it was, my friend pointed out, like a heavenly chip shop curry sauce. This is a good thing.
