I love this restaurant and the food. I wish they would have a delivery service - there are many times when we wanted to order in. I think they are missing out on this service.

Zeret Kitchen is a genuinely brilliantly little restaurant with brilliant food, a nice relaxed family run feel and Taffe the owner is a lovely woman, welcoming, friendly and helpful. Two of my dinner companions had never eaten Ethiopian cuisine before, and Taffe was very helpful in making suggestions and tips for them!

Highly recommended, very well priced, and probably the best overall Ethiopian restaurant I've been to in London.

In short, a place like Zeret Kitchen, with personality and good home-cooked food, deserves customers and fanfare in equal measure, especially with the predominance of mass produced food in chain restaurants all over these days.

Tonight was my first trying Ethopian cooking and I am so glad it was at Zeret. The manager Taffe was lovely, made us feel at home and talked about each of the dishes. The food itself - the vegetarian mixed meal for two - was a wondeful blend of tastes and extremely filling. And while others are right to point out the location away from tube stations, it is conveniently positioned for buses from Waterloo. I suspect the location also contributes to the very reasonable prices. Between us we paid 15 pounds for the food and 12 for a bottle of home made honey wine.

I went to London this weekend and, as I like to do, thought I would make the most of the wide variety of different cuisine the city can offer. Having heard someone mention Ethiopian I searched this site and, upon reading favourable reviews of Zeret Kitchen, booked a table there.

To get the one small negative point (which is location, rather than restaurant based) out the way first, it is in a little bit of a tube 'black hole' and set a little back off Camberwell Rd. But it really is worth seeking out!

Other than that I can really only add to the praise that has already been placed upon this establishment. The food was fantastic, the hostess guided us through each part of the dish (we went for the combination 'Zeret surprise for two') and even brought out a bit more, once learning that we had never tried Ethiopian before. Each part tasted significantly different, so that there was a wide variety of tastes on offer. The portion size was generous and it comes on a large piece of the traditional sour bread.

The service was the perfect combination of showing us how to eat the dish (!) and not overtly fussy and always with a cheerful demeanour. With regards value for money, the shared dish and drinks came to under £20.

I have not been compelled to write a review before (so this is my first) but I think this place warrants mentioning and I shall certainly return there again.

Went here a few weeks back, a little off the beaten track but is amazing food, none of us had ever tried Ethiopian food before but the server was really helpful in explaining everything and helping us make the most of the whole experience, a must for anyone wanting to try somewhere really different.

I had a really great time at this restaurant last Thursday. The food was delicious and very well presented, as well as being amazing value - easily under £20 for two, and with portion sizes which would leave anyone satisfied. The service was excellent, warm and welcoming. I would whole-heartedly recommend this restaurant to anyone.

Cheese and Biscuits - 9/10

Wednesday, April 06, 2011 - Everything we ate at Zeret Kitchen last night was just so mind-blowingly tasty. There was a spicy, dry rub chicken thing, the meat moist & the seasoning complex; there was an astonishing portion of what I want to describe as beef tartare but was, we were assured, not completely raw but actually very lightly fried in what seemed like cardamom; there was a chunk of lamb on the bone, the meat coated in a subtle light dressing of some kind that made you want to gnaw it completely clean; and my favourite of all, a stunning thick chick pea sauce, wonderfully flavoured with smoky, rich spices - it was, my friend pointed out, like a heavenly chip shop curry sauce. This is a good thing.
