Kathmandu Nepalese Restaurant

I love this restaurant. We went simply to try some Nepelese food at a local restaurant, and what we found was an exceptionally unique place in amongst the endless Clapham eateries.
The tableware is a favourite - hefty cutlery and elephant tankers to drink your Gurka beer, all of which is matched by some original cooking - don't assume this is another variation on indian curry - the nepelese food is unique, cheap! and the waiters have always offered to help explain the menu to us. Watch out - it's all too easy to over-eat for very little money.
It often seems frustratingly empty, presumably because of it's location not immediately near to a tube, but everywhere in London is accessible, and buses from Clapham Common, Vauxhall and further stop outside (77, 87, 156, 345) or a 10 minute walk up Lavender hill from Clapham Junction. Kathmandu can be found opposite the red-cubed Battersea Arts Centre (BAC).

3 of us popped in on sunday evening for a quick bite to eat - we'd walked passed it since it had opened and kept meaning to try.
The food was excellent - we each had a tasting menu, to start with it seemed like they were small portions but by the end of it we were very full. All the flavours, textures everything was great - I can't rate the food highly enough. The service was attentive and friendly, the little bar looks quite appealing too.
I hope more people venture out and find this little gem hidden on Lavendar Hill.

A friend in the area has been wanting to try this place for a while so we dropped in for dinner last night. Neither of us have had Nepalese food before and didn't know what to expect. Luckily the server was very helpful and they have a couple rather inexpensive tasting menus you can try. We each had 2 starters and a small main. I don't know how the traditional food is supposed to taste, but everything that came to the table was excellent. We then split a dessert with perfectly balanced flavours - "a harmony of five nectars." The only let down was that there were only a couple other couples dining, so the atmosphere was very quiet and the servers were left being extra helpful, but the decor is quite nice in its own right. I hope more people find this place. I'll certainly be making the journey from north London again.

We ate at the restaurant on Saturday night (we are a family of 4, including 2 kids aged 9 and 11) and loved the ambiance, the welcome but most of all the food. We tried the taster menus that were excellent. The next day the kids were still raving about it being the best food they had eaten in a very long time. Highlights were the momos but the variety on offer, the taste and presentation made every dish a delight. We live in South Wales otherwise we would be there every week.

This is a great restaurant. The food is delicious and totally different to anything else in the area (trust me, I've been to loads of restaurants!). Interesting combinations of flavours and spices. The place is cosy and the design/attention to detail is amazing - the cutlary, the furniture, the decor, everything. It's at the pricier end of restaurants in the area but offers something totally unique. The staff have always been extremely friendly and attentive. This restaurant is specialist and deserves to be better-known about - highly recommended! A favourite!

I've been eating in the restaurant or having deliveries since 2001, and they have been consistently excellent. The food is always delicious - fresh, and high quality, plus the service is always friendly, courteous and swift. Also, it's great value for money.
I can't recommend them highly enough!

WOW!!! what a combination of it's own spices to the food, very delicious and well presented. The cutlery used were traditional, entire setting is full of color and staff with their own charm. The only real restaurant.
