A nice little delicatessen that serves open sandwiches during the day. Really lovely service. Free wifi. They do warm Swedish cinnamon buns too and some really nice blueberry spelt muffins in the mornings.

I usually go there for the open sandwiches for lunch as it’s close to work but I’ve also tried the Scandinavian brunch on a Sunday which I really liked. You can also buy food products from Scandinavia in the shop. Recommended.

Visited Scandinavian Kitchen on a special deal and was still bitterly disappointed! At full price, the open sandwiches are definitely a rip off. When we got there on Saturday lunch time there were only a few sandwich options laid out. some of the ones we chose were clearly leftovers from the day before with stale bread and hard cheese. I am unfortunately not able to recommend this place.

Gourmet Chick

Gourmet Chick - 6/10

Wednesday, October 21, 2009 - The Norwegian smoked salmon served with lettuce is light and perfectly salty, while the rare roast beef is a blush pink and comes with a tangy picalilli relish dressing. However the thick mayonnaise piped on top of the egg and tomato smorrebrod is too heavy for my tastes. The Scandinavian kitchen also serves salads and cakes and some wickedly good hot dogs. The hot dogs remind me of the hot dog I tried at the famous Baejarin Bestu stand in Iceland. They come with the same crunchy fried onions which add a crisp contrast to the meat and sauce.

Friday, June 26, 2009 - Despite the Scandinavian tag, the place is hardly clinical and pinewood bland. It’s more welcoming, warmer and miles cheaper than Madsen, but then again it should be as it’s a café as opposed to a restaurant. As education goes, this place gives a lovely insight to the cuisine of the Nordic countries. I’m itching to come back here soon for the open sandwiches (smørrebrød and smörgåsbord), herrings, meatballs and so on (let’s be honest, diversity stalls pretty quickly with this kind of cuisine).
