Just saw a kids theatre production and went to The Catch afterwards with the cast. Admittedly the were a lot of children, maybe 15 - 20, and about 8 adults. The kids were all very well behaved - or so I thought!!! It was early, 1730/1800. I have to say that the person who I can only assume was owner or the manager at least was the rudest and most obnoxious man I have ever come across in a restaurant!!! We didn't just go in there for drinks, all the kids had a meal and the adults had at least a starter so they took at minimum £200 from us. He was complaining that the kids were being noisy, he wasn't happy where they were sitting, he didn't like taking our order In the first place. If I had been out with my friends I would have made them go somewhere else. In the end he got me so annoyed with his disgusting rude attitude I walked out - I wish I hadn't already paid my bill!!! The food was ok but it was not worth this mans attitude, I shall never be stepping in that place again and if you want to go out with your kids, this restaurant is not a place to go!!!!

Had a meal here last night and don't understand the the previous reviews as the portion sizes are very generous. I would recommend it above all the other local fish and chip restaurants in the area.

fish is small compared to other fish and chip restaurants, chips soggy and desserts are really small, had to ask for extra, not so good.

This is a fairly ok fish shop. It is not as good as Toffs, or Sea pebbles in hatchend. In my opinion Skipjacks in Kenton is not the smartest shop or in the best area, but boy it is the best. Have been going for years and never disappointed, and i am really happy to pay the price difference, which is a couple of pounds at most.

I do think the staff are nice and as i live in Bushey i am happy to buy the odd bag of chips here. The cooking here has got a bit better.

Savva in hatch end is a lovely man, and would be my second choice for local chippy.

I went to this restaurant last night and it was very good. I have eaten in there before and it was good then, but in the last year I'd heard it was a bit hit and miss. It would appear that they had a change of staff and it has taken a bit of time to train them. The staff last night were very nice and the service was good. It was so busy, but at no point did the standard of service drop. The fish was wonderful and really nice chips. They also do lovely home made desserts. I had the chocolate brownie and my husband had the lemon drizzle cake. A really lovely end to the meal. Great night, I will be going back again.

Went to the Catch last night and thank goodness I hadn't read two of the reviews bellow. Fantastic food, really had no complaints at all. As to comparing it to Skipjacks, then I'm sorry its as good if not better and definitely much better value for money. The fish is so fresh and it was a lovely place to have a meal. This is great fish and chip restaurant and i'm glad I went on the back of the many recommendations I've had. Go its great!

I visit Bushey frequently and often buy fish and chips takeaway, staff are friendly and helpful and the fish is good and the chips are excellent, no stale oil here.

This is my local fish and chip restaurant I have to say it is getting worse and worse.

To start with a positive some of the staff are very friendly and helpful.

On the other hand some are rude and lazy.

What prompted me to write this was that I recently had a take away form the catch only to find that the calamari was inedible when I got home.

It can be good but on too many occasions the chips have been soggy and undercooked and the fish or meat below what I would feed the dog.

Visited the catch last night. My usual chippy is Skipjacks in Kenton and Toffs in Muswell hillso my standards are high.

Firstly i have to say that, the similiarities between layouts, menus and dishes to skipjacks is remarkable. Cajan cod is one of skipjacks signiture dishes, as are the battered mushrooms. ..many similarities.

The restaurant is nice and modern...the staff are very good. I liked the bussle from the takeaway as this made the restaurant feel alive. My prawn cocktail had a lovely sauce but was spoilt by frozen in the middle prawns. My partners mushrooms incredibility over seasoned.

The mains were disappointing. My grilled plaice was thin and very undercooked, and again too much seasoning, with someone in the kitchen loving the salt.

My partners haddock had a very funny smell and tasted metallic. ....but the chips were very good. Proper fish and chip shop chips. However we took some chips home with us, as a requested by our daughter and they were not nice at all, how can you do good chips in the restaurant and bad chips on your takeaway. An ok chippy..not one of the greats. Long may the great ones exist.

Very poor. How hard is it to make good fish and chips. Friendly place and they will grill the fish for you if you like. But seriously, surely their margins are not going to be hit that badly by making a nice simple, fresh fish and chips and offering a decent salad. Will not go there again.
