It may not be the fault of the owners, but when we sat down to eat the table next to us was having a burping contest, which consisted of sipping Tango and then belching out a repugnant mix of curry mixed with orange, The men were in their middle 30s and this imbecility and childish behaviour I can only say is typical of the clientèle you get here at times.
I did complain the the manager and as they were busy he could not move us, but said nothing to the men who were belching loudly anyway, it did seem that they were well known to the owners and this is where they came after playing cricket,
Eventually the trio left and my party were served the free salad was stale and thrown on the plate with dried out cucumber (there was a whole tray of this open to greet every customer as they came in) this could hardly be called fresh,
The curry was shocking, please do not eat here. It contained raw tomato purée and despite ordering a complex mix of curries they all tended to come with the same sauce and no matter what we ordered we got mutton, chicken and veg, so much for having choice on the menu. We did complain to the manager again (by this time we were not so popular) and he said there must have been some confusion with the order, but from prior experience of this place, I think this is common practice, just serve whatever to whoever and wait for complaints.
The breads were actually quite nice, but the pops were cold and stale and we told them to take them back and cook us fresh, this made them angry but the second batch were fresher, so it pays to ask.
The sauces had run out on our table when we were there and when we asked for mango chutney a disgusting mix of tap water and mango lasse was served to us, When we asked what this shocking mess was, we were told there was no more sauce, this seems unlelieveable for a restauant.
The meat was tough, the service bad.
This is not a good place, Why anyone would rate it highly obviously likes below par food and service.

Our "Curry Club", meets once a month and we go to different "Indian" restaurants (there are about 9 of us if everyone were to attend) across London. We have been going to the LKH, for more years than i care to remember and have seen it grow from a small nondescript cafe, to a canteen style restaurant that seats about 400 people.
No matter where we eat on our travels, we have difficulty in finding better food anywhere. The quality of the food has not altered in all of this time and is still superb.
One word of caution, we went into the LKH last week and between 7.05 and about 9.30(ish) there was a queue. When we left (and we almost had to fight our way out), there must have been about 100 people trying to get in. It is very rare to see people queueing to get into a restaurant, in the rain!!!

Absolutely spot on and well worth visiting.
On our way back from Cambridge Sunday lunch time and Mrs Crack suggested we visit LKH following some excellent feedback from Friends and so pleased we did. The food was superb - we had the Lamb Chops (delicious,) Kebabs which were so moist it melted in the mouth. Following this we had the Chicken special dish (sry cannot remember the name) and again this was very good, quite spicy and very moorish.
We were so impressed we ordered an additional four mains to take home and keep in the freezer! All in - the price was about £32 and given the night before we'd eaten at a 2 * Michelin starred restaurant (Midsummer House / Daniel Clifford) I'll be back to LKH much before I get back to Midsummer.
This and Tayyabs are certainly the best in the area though LKH nudges it for me as their kebabs were awesome!

Three of us visited on a Saturday night. The place was very busy and we had to queue for a little while for a table but the atmosphere was really cool and the food was all superb and great value. I had the chicken karahi which was delicious and the samosas and onion bahji was just as good. We brought a few beers with us since it's BYO and there was no corkage fee.
Staff were very pleasant, friendly, and helpful with the menu but very slow. We must have waited about an hour for the bill which we asked for 4 times. We weren't in a rush so it was fine but have no idea why it took so long since all the guy did to give us the bill was tick some boxes for what we had to eat.
Would definitely go back.

I cannot express how disapointed we were with this place. Having dined at Tayyabs previously we were excited to try some similarly delicious Pakistani cuisine. From the moment we arrived the experience was unpleasent. Having a 3-quid bottle of water thrust upon us within seconds of sitting down was just the starter. We asked to replace this with tap water which was done but not without a glare of disapproval. Our server was the rudest waiter we've ever come across. We asked for some guidance on the menu (no desciptions of dishes are provided) and he barked some sort of response back which didn't resemble English and slammed the menu down on the table. In the end we went for the Karahi chicken and a mixed veg curry. Within about 2 minutes the food arrived with no words or eye contact made from our server. The veg curry was without doubt the WORST curry dish I have ever tasted. Caulifower, carrots and whatever else was in it (couldn't identify it) cooked to buggery in a few drops of a watery 'sauce'. The karahi chicken sauce had great flavour but was lathered in oil. Pilau rice was watery and had zero flavour. Garlic nan bread was thick doughy and had burnt garlic leaving a nasty bitter flavour on the palate. Without doubt the worst meal I have had in a supposed restaurant. The bill was given to us, again without a word spoken or eye contact made.
The worst part is that he was friendly to the guy sat on the next table.

I had dinner here last night. Amazing lamb chops and lamb, chicken Karahi. The canteen atmosphere is very much about fast food but tasty food. Definately come here if you want a good meal with speed and good prices.
For those of you who want to linger with your glasses of wine - this is not the place for you - stick to Brick Lane and get ripped off!
I would recommend for large parties only if you are keen on spending time with your friends instead of worrying about the look of the place and the sorts of customers.

been going to this restaurant for last one year. first time when i was there, i asked about the bottle of mineral water which they put on table with the plate of salad and yogurt sauce, is it free? and obviously no restaurant will give bottle of mineral water free. staff said bottle of mineral water is charged 2.50 and salad n sauce is free so i asked for tap water and enjoyed free salad. when i asked for beer they said you have to bring your own. food was fabulous since then i'm regular customer and enjoy the excellent food there. i love this place.
