Curry Special

After reading previous reviews, I thought of giving a try at this restaurant as i have recently moved in this area. Went with four others on a busy saturday evening. We were given a warm welcome and the table offered to us was also very good. After having the starters we all felt that the quality of food offered by this restaurant is much better as compared to other restaurants in the area. Main course dishes were amazing-specially the methi chicken and tadka dal. We all ordered different desserts out of which gazor ka halwa was quite outstanding. Overall we had a great experience and the service was also brilliant. I think Curry Special will be our first preference for eating out and celebrating special occasions.

This was the biggest diasappointment ever. Four of us visited the place whcih was plush enough. And expensive enough. No problems there, but the food was a disaster- these guys are making a fool of everyone- the chilli chicken was fake- a left over chicken curry with a spoon of red chilli powder. Not good enough- the chef is not a chef at all.

we left after the starters. Anyone beats their food- mobeens, lahore kebab house , etc

We paid more than £10 for a jug of mangoi lassi- which was served in wine glasses- lassi in wine glasses!

the waiter just smiled and said that was the way they served it. And it had rose water in it- for NO reason. Sorry, i dont want to get more emotional- that is why we left and went elsewhere for the main meal.

A few weeks ago (over the 1st may bank holiday) i attend two weddings that CS where doing the food for....All i can say is what a contrast..... The first even was at the Hilton in canary whalf... the food was good, the waiter service was great and the over all managment was good.... Then i went to Sian Park, where the food was c***, the staff could not speak english and didnt even know what they where doing.... at one point my partner noticed the staff and the managers arguing between themself.... how un professtional

I dont know who was staffing/managing the event at the hilton but they where soooo much better than the team at sian park

We were regular visitors to Curry Special finding it one of the best local restaurants in a quality setting, with good service!!

Unfortunately things have gone somewhat down hill, this is mainly down to the quality of the food. The fall is somewhat exaggerated as the quality of food was so good previously.

Being the eternal optimist myself and good lady visited CS last week, initial signs were not good as the place was virtually deserted even though it was prime time on a Thursday night. Our worst fears were confirmed when our main courses arrived. Both were pretty basic, lacking flavour and swimming in ghee, something you would expect from a run of the mill restaurant and not costing nearly £17 for both.

I felt sorry for the staff as they wanted to do their job but there were no customers for them to serve.

CS special used to be a buzzy restaurant with excellent food, sadly this is not the case now. It had the feel of something someone has forgotten about, maybe they have bigger fish to fry?

Unless things change drastically don’t waste your money or time, find somewhere better.

I don’t usually write on these things but the mediocrity and premium cost of this meal has spurred me into warning others.

Goddd..!!!

I think i wasted my time last night by going to this restaurant and that too with my friends.It was so embarrasing for me.

I have been there before so many times and i thought i should take my friends with me to give them a delicious experience of food that the restaurant offer with a good service.

Firstly, the service that they did was not really good and i was really dissapointed with their service as i had to wait for about 15-20 minutes for being served.

Secondly, the food was so pathetic and it has no taste as expected.

I would advise people not to go on this restaurant and waste their money.

Wow...after reading the reviews on Curry Special (which have been mixed to say the least) i thought to myself i must check it out .

My family and I dined at the restaurant last friday and were greeted with a friendly face as soon as we entered, which was grate considering the restaurant was bustling with other diners. The staff were polite and very accomodating. The manager (who's name escapes me) was lovely. We had trouble deciding on which dishes (of which there are many) to choose from and his advice was great . The decor was fantastic! It has a modern feel in keeping with today's lifestyle however it still maintained a traditional touch.

As far as the food is concerned, well, i have dined at many a so called Indian restaurant, but you would struggle to find a better one than this. The Mahi Fish Tikka and Murgh Hariyali were just delicious and the tempura vegetables (pili pili boga) were to die for. For main course we opted for Bukhara Dal (which reminded my father of India) followed by Methi Aloo, Makhani Chicken & Masala Lamb accompanied with melt in your mouth Tandoori Naans and Lacha Paratha. By the time it came round to desserts we were almost too full (but there's always room for dessert right!?!) The manager recommended Hot Gulabjamun and Malai Kulfi and although this was not everyones cup of tea...it did not go down too badly at all.

The price....well with drinks our bill worked out to be approx £23 per head for 5 of us which is def good value.

All in all i would not hesitate to recommend you go there and try it out for yourselves

I have recently been to a party of my Sister in laws son's 1st B'day,

food, service & staff were all perfect.

It was handled very professionally. Thanks I have booked my daughter's wedding with them in September 2008.

This event really gave me the live picture of what Curry Special can do when they are at their best.

from food to management they were exellent.

My family have used CS many times for various occasions and have never had a problem….I hear you guys talking about the event managers and staff word of advise CS uses many event managers and agencies to provide staffing but I have always insisted that Ameet manages my event and Anand provides the staffing…. There both real team players that have made all my functions run smoothly….!

After reading some of these reviews I am absolutely shocked, as Curry Special did my wedding catering at the Marriott in Heathrow and my day couldn't have been more perfect or magical. There event management was fantastic. the day went so smoothly and above all my parents attended the function as a guest, there was no running around for them at all. Everything was perfectly planned and expertly executed.

I have also been going to their restaurant since I was 8 years old, I hadn't been back for years until the other day and what can I say, they have not only moved with the times in terms of decor but the food was amazing.

I think they are a very professionally run business with innovative ideas to make your day perfect I did not feel unimportant at all.... infact I felt very special.
