I have been having lunch at Au Lac for many years, it is a shame that our office had moved away too far from the restaurant, I miss the place so much, you feel so warm and relax there. I have to go back there for evening dinner, even though I lived quite far.
I never can find any where else better than Au Lac, the staff so friendly, the food so cheap and tasty.

I am so proud that Au Lac is our number one local restaurant, I always took my friends and family there, when they came to visit me, the food is so tasty, reasonable price, very friendly service, I highly recommend it, do book on Friday and Saturday, because they always full.

Au Lac is one of my top ten vietnamese restaurant, that I ever had Vietnamese food, very good price, and the staff very friendly too, lunchtime very cheap. Do come and try out.

Both living and working within a few minutes of Au Lac I tend to go at least once a week, sometimes simply grabbing a takeaway on the hoof. Today I ordered takeaway veggie spring rolls with sweet chilli sauce and extra soy sauce which the friendly proprieter has no problem with. It's not really a big deal. However, today a woman I presume to be a new member of staff was outright rude about providing complementary soy sauce and asserted that they'll have to 'start charging extra next time'. Au Lac is cheap (as she reminded me) but she was downright rude and I don't think it was anything to make an issue out of. I've been going there for over two years and I think this kind of bad attitude is uneccesary and just leaves a bad taste. I'll continue to eat there as it's cheap and otherwise the service is friendly but some training in customer service may be necessary.

Absolutely love this place! It's also the reason why more local restaurants should be given a chance. We live around the corner but have only recently decided to try this gem. The food is amazing, and just the ticket for a small budget as two can eat for around £30. The service is also outstanding. Not many restaurants remember you visiting them, even if you have only ever been there once!

This is the best restaurant in Highbury and the surrounding area. The food is out of this world and the service is excellent.
I too am an Au Lac addict. Can't get enough of the place.

I have been frequenting Au Lac for 13 years now - along with my posse - we are huge fans of the restaurant, the food and the atmosphere. The restaurant is run by a Vietnamese family who know us and what we like - it is almost like eating in your own home (without the need for cleaning up afterwards!). Stick to the Vietnamese dishes (in their old menus this was clearly indicated but not so much now) - they are also very helpful on choosing dishes if you don't know what you want. The only warning I would say is that it gets very busy and crowded on match days when Arsenal are playing and also Valentine's Day. In terms of food, starters - fresh spring rolls, beef wrapped in betel leaves and Vietnamese pancakes are all freshly made and yummy; mains - chicken in lemon grass with coconut, spicy pork with bamboo, chilli, Mongolian lamb, beef pho or bun hue noodle soups and for dessert (if you have enough room) apple fritters. Their iced coffee and home-made sake are also favourites.
