I am writing this review as I feel the 8 and 9 out of 10 reviews on this site are very very misleading.

The restaurant is very small and by default relatively cosy. The menu covers off the usual suspects of polski fare. I don't expect Eastern Euro food to be gourmet by any means. What I do expect is that it's simple and filling homestyle comfort food.

The food was consistently poor. A cold meat platter starter for sharing was uninspired and tasteless as was a grilled kabasa sausage. Mains weren't any better, a simple breaded chicken was vastly overcooked (to the point of rubber) and topped with some form of plastic cheese - sadly the shoe string fries served with the chicken were perhaps the high point of the entire meal. A braised pork knuckle was limp and unusually had most of the meat piled next to a dry bone. It was accompanied by a few slices of plain bread? Although still hungry we decided against desserts.

The prices aren't steep but we still did not feel we were getting fair value for what we paid. I'd much prefer pay an extra quid or two and eat far better at Baltic.

I guess there's no explanation needed as to why on a winter's Saturday night, Stara Polska was three quarters empty, whilst its neighbouring restaurants were bustling with long lines outside.

Went with some friends on a Saturday evening. It was quite quiet but the cosy layout of the restaurant meant that it didn't seem at all empty. We stuck to some basic Polish fayre - sausages and pierogi, all of which was delicious and also great value. I could have eaten what I had all over again, and if that's not a good advert for a restaurant then I don't know what is.

We are food snobs with a two-year-old, so we were facing the usual set of challenges. We were looking for something in Marylebone that wasn't super hip but nonetheless good--ideally something tucked away on a side street that the twenty-somethings hadn't flooded. Stara Polska was perfect: the service was very warm, the food was tasty (the beet salad was Absolutely Amazing; the pierogis, a rare treat, were very good), and the atmosphere charming (old tavern meets pirate ship, in the best sense). And the place was empty, which is too bad; in a world of over-priced fashion food, with a Pizza Express around every corner, sometimes a nice little local Polish place is just the thing.

It was okay. The food itself was tasteful but nothing exeptional. The service little bid slow. We took our Japanese colleague there to allow them to experience a polish, traditional meal. They enjoyed it but.....what put us off was the fact that we were offered a table and in the middle of the meal a waitress came and asked us to move to another table (since the one we were offered was reserved. C'mon, you don't treat your guests like that??

I don't thing I would be back to that place soon after this incident with the table. Shame....

Service is good, what do you expect from that type of restaurant?

my favourite beer ( Okocim) is out of stock most of the time but they always have somthing else ;0

Recommend as it is very good for the price.
