The perry hill pub at long last rediscovered itself as a local family pub with regular live music Tuesdays & Thursdays which is always entertaining. I am glad to say as a regular the pub feels like a second home freindly staff always making you feel welcome. the gastro food i am glad to say is gone and we are back to basics with good old fashioned pub grub which is reasonably priced food

Looks nice from the outside so decided to give it a try. Was not impressed at all. Staff could hardly be bothered to serve you & never smiled once.
Food was rubbish & some was undercooked or just not warmed up enough in the microwave! Also over priced for the portion received.
Toilets had no locks on them and smelled strongly. Will not be making a return.

Appaling sense of what good good is. We really liked the old Perry Hill, but now its a terrible, terrible experience. The staff don't have a clue what they are doing and although they defended the undercooked/overcooked disgustingness that was the food by saying the chef was on his first day. Lasagne is pretty hard to mess up but they managed to do it for both the veggie and meat option. The owner or manager defended the food saying he had decided to not do a la carte, he should just be taking orders for take away - they would surely save more money.
Don't go here, no matter how much you want to support the local area.
As a footnote of fairness they did offer a free bottle of wine on our next visit, I just hope they aren't running it when we go.

Yes I will also confirm the last review. It's no longer a lovely gastropub under the new owners. Instead it's an 80's throwback serving up poor, microwaved, frozen food (that when they even have it in stock i.e. in the freezer). The 'waiter' was nice but hadn't a clue what he was doing. Pint was OK but avoid for food.

This pub is under new management and unfortunately absolutely not worth going to. The food was of a very low pub standard although they have kept the prices of the old gastro menu. A very sad loss!
