I have noticed that the recent change in staff has made all the difference to this place! The customer sercive is now outstanding rather than just ok. The new staff greet you with a warm welcome and are always ready to help unlike the staff i saw a few months ago who were just hanging around looking like they didn't want to serve you.Quite happy to say now,i think this is THE restaurant to visit whilst in london because it has fresh mouthwatering food and excellent customer service along with affordable prices on the menu.Under new management is just what the place needed and i shall be viisting again and again with family and friends.

I was introduced to the Ravi Shankar by a close Indian friend of mine. We had walked the length and breadth of Drummond street and found the restaurant looked the most authetic and inviting.
The manager was very welcoming and made us feel instantly comfortable. We took a window seat and ordered a soup starter and main course.
The dal soup starter was most delicious I have ever tasted, even so I enquired to the manager about the recipe. The depth of flavour was outstanding and left a zingy after taste on your pallete.
Main course was a Thali, about 6 dishes surrounding a potion of rice. This was accompanied by chapati and a plate of red onion and cucumber. The dishes ranged from chick peas to aloo gobi, curried vegetables, super smooth pumpkin and yoghurt.
The rice was cooked to perfection.
The food tasted extremely fresh with each dish having it's own signature notes of flavour.
The manager explained the chef made fresh food everyday.
I really enjoyed my visit to the Ravi Shankar, the food was excellent and the manager friendly and approchable.
I vowed to take my family next time I was in London. This is one restaurant not to miss.

We went to the Ravi Shankar for lunch on a very cold wet Saturday (Jan 2010). The buffet display in the window was very attractive and inviting, and we were warmly welcomed at the door. The buffet was outstanding, with several curry dishes, lots of salads and even some desserts. Everything we tasted was excellent, the staff were friendly and helpful, and the price was an astonishing bargain, even to us who often eat at Indian restaurants in Bradford. We will most certainly go again next time we are in London. We cannot recommend this restaurant highly enough. It has apparently come under new ownership quite recently, so please disregard out of date reviews.

I actually loved this restaurant - the food tasted so amazing I felt guilty for not finishing it. In fact, I would stretch as far as saying that I wanted to take what I couldn't finish home with me.
The service was impeccable and the price astounding - I'm from Nottingham and finding quality at this price would be impossible there... in London though!

Puri starters average only. Dosa looked impressive standing up on the plate but was also only okay. Mains better although accompanying chapatis were not very good. The service was mixed. Won't go again.
