great authentic indian food. used to go to the one in Hammersmith all the time for lunch.

what they lack in atmosphere is made up for in cuisine.

I visited Sagar on Sunday. It was my first visit. My friend recommended this place. It was awesome. I would say that, their dosas are best. I am surprised that my daughter is happy with their food. Kind and helpful waiters, pleasant environment, good food. What else we need. I highly recommend this place. I would appreciate if you open one in Oxford.

I didnt like the experience at all. Ordered a Rava Onion Dosa and requested it without oil.

After 20 mins, I get one soaked in oil.. more oil that it seems I asked for one with extra oil.

When I expressed concern over this, the waiter had the audacity to take a napkin from the next table and ask me to soak it up with it.. and were suggesting that the humungous amount of oil on it was necessary to cook the dosa and that was ridiculously absurd. So much for good customer experience. Some other waiters gathered around and another one at least had the decency to ask if I need another one, I half suspected they were going to take it inside and drain the oil off with a napkin.. Thankfully they didn't do that.. After a total of 45 minutes, I get another one. It didn't taste bad but maybe the wait killed my appetite. The floor boards are always moving when their 6 odd waiters dash across the floor that it felt I was in some unstable place. I absolutely hated it and I am never going back again.

A visit to Sagar could go some way to make even a confirmed carnivore reassess the need to ever eat meat again. The lunch special at £5.75 is not only superb value for money but also a great way to sample a range of tasty South Indian delights. The dosa was delightful and the upma uplifting. A more expensive thali option is available, but the lunchtime special was more than adequate.

Sagar gets the thumbs up from me!

We tried the vegetable biriyani with okra and a hot vegetable curry and something else we've forgotten. The food was ok but too 'subtle' for us - we left craving something hotter. The price is a bit stiff but probably normal around this area. Surprised to see so many staff around.

What a load of rubbish! The food was quite frankly awful. I had the Thali, the worst one I have eaten ever. The assortment included two bowls of liquid, like some sort of handwash and one lentil paste which had the most awful taste. My friends were equally dissapointed with one persons food arriving five minutes after the others. The menu had so much on it it was confusing to all. One friend ordered a main meal the size of it could have been a starter and another had to go to Tesco to buy food after. The staff were just standing around when it was obvious we needed help with the menu. As a vegetarian I was looking forward to this but am very dissapointed

I do not understand why the hammersmith branch of the chain got such a good review in time out unless they are cooking different food. I guess british restauant critics like most british people just don't know good food. I had a thali and found the food very bland and unimpressive. Most of the thali dished seemed like a not very impressive soup. Nothing special at all. Service and atmosphere were ok but it was the food I came for and it was a big disappointment. Cheap menu but better places around for that money.

We ate here Saturday 7th, it was very ordinary, but inexpensive. Starters - the onion bhaji was excellent, the pani puri was poor - half a dozen chick peas at the bottom of a sharp liquid to put into the little shells. The chick pea mixture needs to be separate from the liquid - that way you can fill the shell with chick pea, then add chutney which is absorbed. Main courses - one very uninspiring saag paneer, didnt taste freshly prepared. On ridiculous paper dosa that was at least 2 feet in diameter - for one person! - came with tiny quantity of cold bland potato and paneer mixture, very obviously not freshly prepared.

If you are hungry and want a cheap meal quickly, then this place is just about OK.
