went to cape town fish market last night and i must say i am never going back. whilst expecting the same grade A service and food quality as in Jo'burg the london restaurant is a disappointment. We waited for 15 minutes before someone came and gave us a menu or asked what we'd like to drink. after asking for an exchange for the starter as the mussels were not up to par the waitress spilt the mussel cream all over our table and clothes and found it very amusing.
the fish cakes are to die for but mussels are a disappointment. for mains we had grilled sea bass and surf and turf. the sea food was lovely but the steak lacked in taste.
when asked about the spillage the management said they could not do anything about it since it was a mistake and took off £13 off our £82 bill stating thats all they could do and if we had a problem with it we should write a letter as he could not spend the whole night talking to us because he had customers.
for a place with mediocre food the service made the experience very upsetting.
if you were to go there wish and hope for nothing to go wrong because if it does, the staff cannot do anything about it. they are more or less useless.

OM Goodness!! Service was shocking. We booked a table for 6 and seated downstairs - it smelled. They eventually moved us upstairs to a better table but then our waitress was hopeless. Food was expensive and badly presented. never go there, if invited as a guest - tell the host to change restaurants. very disgruntled diner .....

Where to start? Cramped booth, with barely room to sit comfortably. Awful Italian waiter, who tried to con us into ordering the most expensive dishes. Long wait for pre-dinner drinks, which eventually arrived after the starter was already on the table.
Tempura prawns (3 not very plump specimens, with tails on, for over £7) looked like they came out of an Iceland frozen foods packet and were accompanied by a cold shredded cabbage "garnish" .
Ordered glasses of Sauvignon Blanc to accompany the main course and were brought paintstripper Pinot Grigio instead.
Tiniest piece of kingklip ever served in the history of the world cost £21 and those present had to debate whether it actually tasted like kingklip. All main courses accompanied by more shredded cabbage and no other vegetables (apart from the chips, which were OK) .
Meanwhile our Italian friend capered around saying how much we must be enjoying the food and gave us some delicious home-made "caramelle" as we tried to make our escape, £130 for three poorer. These sweetmeats consisted of two rather old looking Fox's Glacier Mints each.
We won't be rushing back....

This is probably the worst restaurant I have ever eaten at . The waiter was rude, ignorant, ill mannered. The food was so bad I couldnt eat it. Theres no way this dump is going to be around in six months time. I'm disgusted at myself for paying the bill.

Visited London last weekend and found Cape Town Fish Market.
The food was very good, the waiter[s] very attentive.
We took the set menu of 13,95 GBP which was worth the money.
Would recommend it to everyone.

The food here was abysmal, having read the reviews I was expecting good things, and unfortunately this didn't happen.
On arrival we were sat in a booth which was pleasant we then placed our order
Starter - Mussels, King Prawns. The mussel arrived and they did not taste fresh they were dry as though they had been in a microwave and tasted as though they were several days old. King prawns were heavily battered and tasted like frozen prawns
We then had our main meal placed down - Sizzler, Seabass. The sizzler sauce had a skin on top of the sauce it looked and tasted like it had been left on the side or been in a microwave. The seabass was over cooked and had a olive tapenade of salt on top - as opposed to the sun blushed tomatoes in the menu. The main meals were so bad we sent them back. We then had the manager come over and tell us that's how it’s cooked so if we don't like it....
The only positive thing to take from cape town fish market was the wine which was served ice cold!
All in all - Not recommended
