The food at Vijays is excellent. Pretty much everything I ordered was freshly made and tasted wonderful. I took some friends with me and we had a variety of different dishes. They all looked and tasted different from each other. It was a great pleasure to go there and I shall be dining there again.

Just had a delivery from Vijay
Absolutely faultless on food. Not greasy or overly spicey. I used to eat at the restaurant 10 years ago when I lived nearby. We fancied a curry tonight but wanted something a bit cheaper than www.deliverance.com. Turned out to be as expensive but the dishes were amazing and we over ordered so the comments about price are probably a bit harsh, considering the freshness and quality of the food. Also, we ordered blond and followed the advice of the waiter.
Overall, I'll definitely be getting my food there again.

Always utterly faultless in terms of food, service and value for money. You are treated like a member of the family when you go there and all the food is cooked fresh from scratch. Never greasy, always tasty. I've been a regular for 5 years and will be for another 50......!

I have been here on a few ocasions most often if the nearby Geeta was closed.
Its a lot more expensive that the Geeta but the dishes are a little larger and the plentiful waiters are smart but I get tyhe feeling they dont think they have to be very polite or helpful. Certainly they are far less so than most Indian restaurants.
I get the feeling its resting on the benefits of the good reviews when it first opened and it has jacked up the prices so much that its become rather expensive for a restaurant in Willesden.

Me, my family nad friends have been coming there since the 70's when it became famous due to some article in TIME OUT and I still go there whenever I travel to London (from Germany). The food is delicious. The Dahi Vadai I could dive in, lemon and coconut rice delicious and special as always - waiters friendly as ever, at least onday April 16th, 2007. Prices have never been low there.

I have also been going to the establishment for many years starting in 1970s when there was a fantastic member of staff who spoke to you in Ivrit, not because he was an Israeli but because he had studied the language and it pleased him to do so. Being Jewish but having no understanding of Ivrit I found it hilarious,
Meanwhile back to today.
What was once a fine restaurant has now become decidedly average.
The service was slow although there were lots off staff on hand but they all seemed to be running round like headless chickens not to sure what to do. The food was good but again was slow in coming when the place was only half full at 8pm on a Saturday night, The dishes were all what I would call smaller portions and the bill for 3 adults and 3 children came to an amazing £80 . We only had 2 starters and 5 main with 3 vedge and 2 rice , We had no puddings and ordered tap water , 2 Lassi , a Coke and an Appertise.
I consider this a tad expensive for the area.
Going back to the old days when it was very different , the service was 10/10 and
the food fantastic and reasonably priced. I believe the problem is that the next generation have taken over and they have lost the plot.

Vijays. Have been going there for over a decade. Always brilliant, the food is simply amazing. This is NOT your average indian, it is carefully, sensitively produced with a great elegance in use of herbs and spices, I simply cannot recommend it to highly, and regularly drag myself half-way across London.
The only bad thing about this restaurant is how inadequate it makes every other Indian restaurant you go to afterwards seem.

My family have been coming here for the last 30 years. Best indian in London without a doubt. The masala dosai's are totally divine, the service is super friendly and the prices are more than reasonable. An institution.

Vijay's has rightly earned reputation for South indian food of a very high standard. Service is very friendly although the decor represents a trip back to 1973 - no matter! everything is redeemed with delectable Massala Dosa, wonderful vegetarian dishes and I have yet to find a better Rogan Josh. Always busy and always great value - a beacon of culinary dilight on Willesden Lane.
