This is definitely a night club, not a restaurant. When we arrived about 30 minutes before our (Christmas) dinnre reservation, we were lead to a table upstairs to wait - but nobody offered us a drink!
For 55 GBP, I expect better food and better service.

The Cafe de Paris is first and foremost a nightclub, and just so happens to serve food. Fortunately, the food is of an exceptional standard, and out of the 6 of us that dined their I think we all throroughly enjoyed it.
Unfortunately the fact that the venue is more a nightclub than a restaurant meant that the service was rather poor. Lots of little things, and a few more significant things almost ruined the night...
They urge you to choose your dessert at the beggining. Obviously we were not too keen to do this so we opted to wait until after the main so that we would have a better idea of what we felt like. But on asking for the dessert menu's we were informed that they needed us off the table by 10, so were too late. We had only been there for 1 hour 45 minutes. We were not informed of this until asking for dessert, and when you have just spent in excess of £50/head already, to find out that you can't have dessert and that you need to leave ASAP is a little frustrating. And to ensure we all left on time, at 10PM they turned the air con on so high that everybody that was unfortunate enough to be dining on the soon to be dance floor, was forced off the table in search of warmth.
Seondly, they don't serve coffee! I would hope that any restaurant that charges £60 per head would offer coffee.
Other little things were...
Nobody takes your coats at the door - you have to go and check them in as if you were in a nightclub (which you are!).
We were served a bottle of wine that was listed as 2004 but turned up 2007.
At first, the wrong main was served up, but they were quick to rectify this with swift delivery of the correct dish.
So if you do decide to go here, a few suggestions...
Don't wear a jacket
Eat early, so you don't get your evening cut short.
Try and ask for a table upstairs, or around the outside. This will prolong your stay as these table do not need to be dismantled.
Watch out for the service charge added on all drinks in the club after. They added 12.5% to a vodka and coke (£7.50) making it almost £9, even though it was bought from the bar!
and finally.... take a thermos off coffee with you!!

Went to Cafe on Saturday just gone........ Loved it! Went to the restaurant first and had an awesome meal, everyone on my table loved it, they forgot one of our side orders but brought it out as quick as they could, the manager apologised and she was very polite so we didn't mind at all.
Got to stay on for the club for free so had a wicked night in there too. The music was a good blend of allsorts, the Dj was great and there was even dancers! Drinks quite reasonable prices for the west end too (£4 for glasses of wine or bottled beer) and really good looking crowd! (What more can a girl ask for!!!)
Seems like some people have had problems, I don't know how, all the staff were really nice, we had a couple of people meet us after the meal and they didn't have any problems getting in??? We were a bridal party too but we didn't dress up at all, I think maybe they don't allow fancy dress?????
Anyway, would definitely reccommend coming here, it's a really good night out and doesn't blow the bank balance!!

I have to admit that after reading the terrible reviews on this website and others that I was dreading our night out to the Cafe de Paris. I had already been once for a work do a couple of years ago and I knew that the place was lavishly decorated and a great venue all in all - but I was really dreading the food and drink prices!
We were on a hen night and there were 12 of us in total. All of us were a bit apprehensive at first. Firstly, the food was fantastic. I had the tiger prawns to start (which was a generous portion) and roast suckling pig for main which was amazing. Again - huge portion and cooked to perfection! Everyone was very impressed with the meal. Most of us skipped dessert and opted to share a carafe of black sambuca instead. All in all we had a cocktail each, numerous bottles of house red and white wine, soft drinks, shots, etc and the total per head was £65. Given the amount we had drunk at the table and the quality of the food, we all agreed that it was worth the money. The staff were FANTASTIC too. Our waiter was exceptional and nothing was too much trouble. The only thing I will say is that we had a small balloon on our table with "hen night" on it and we had to remove it at the request of the general manager. I thought that was a bit unreasonable but it didn't dampen our spirits. After dinner we were granted entrance to the VIP area (courtesy of our brilliant waiter) which was fantastic. We all had an amazing time and the club and music in general were second to none. I can't sing praises for the Cafe de Paris enough. I would recommend this place for a special night out to anyone and I would definately go back - in fact - I can't wait to go back!

I LOVE CAFE DE PARIS!!!!
I feel bad for those people who had a bad experience, it really must have been a one off, I've been loads and I've never had a bad time. The food is always gorgeous, the staff are always lovely and then you get to stay on for the club for free, what more could you want?? The place itself is so classy I always feel very special in there, if you're looking for a fab night out you should definately go here!!!

So I booked on the internet (clubtickets.com) tickets for CDP on NYE.
Earlier that week I requierd what time we had to be in, on an email they replied it was 1am. After watching the fireworks we arrived, 12.15am. First the (wannabe) manager said we were late. Than I showed him my confirmation of the site. We couldn't go in, because it had to be booked by the CDP-website itself.
Than he came with a sort of a list and checked if our names were on it. (It could have been a list of 10weeks ago).
So really disapointed and £88 LOST we left the place. The attitude the doorman had really made us sick. DON'T GO THERE!

We organised a venue for 20 people to the Cafe de Paris.
My first impression when entering to the main room is that
it did not give me the same feeling as advertised in the website.
The place looked old and outdated. And the decorating looked cheap.
Unfortunately, the food was reflecting the ambiance of the place:
Nice on the menu, but very poor in reality. On starter, I ordered
what was supposed to be Foie Gras. It was in reality a kind of chicken
liver pate.
The beef Wellington as a main course was completly overdone. A nice
pink color is what you expect when you start slicing the filet.
The lemon tart (somethink pretty easy to do)
was completly runny. And the pastry too hard. Definitively not a home
made lemon tart.
The service was poor. With only 20 people on the table, they nevertheless
did not serve us at the same time.
At 60 pounds a head, I do expect 100 times better than this.
This place pretends to be a posh and exclusive place.
But apart from the bill, the food, staff and decoration is cheap
This place was certainly exclusive in the 1920s, but i am afraid that
it is night club among others in Picadilly.

I don't know where the previous reviewers have been but the food at Cafe de Paris is dreadful. Our mains were cold despite the great show made of removing the silver domes from our plates when they finally arrived after we had waited nearly 2 hours for them! This would not be good food for any price.
The service was slow and rude. The manager thought we were not important enough for his establishment and when the place turned into a club at 10pm we were rudely asked to leave our table as other customers had paid to reserve it. This was despite the fact that our main courses had arrived at 9.50pm!!
If you like pretentious places full of wannabes and are under 20 then you might enjoy the club, but I would recommend that you NEVER eat there.
