So we finally got round to dinner at Frocks. Really glad we did. Starters were good. Husbands mussels had 6 dead ones, but made up by eating most of my scrummy prawn and salmon ravioli. I've never actually had a fellow diner leer at my dinner and then order the same thing, but it happened here. The T bone steak with pont neuf (humonguous chips) was magnificent. My husband and sister 'forgot' to let me try try their lamb and pork dishes. Despite being quite full, I bravely finished with the Baileys cheesecake. It was hideously sweet and cloying, did you leave it, you ask? Hell no, I just undid my trousers.

We have eaten at Frocks regularly for the past 3 years, and being honest, it has failed to disappoint us yet - if you are greedy like us, you will delight in the genourous portions, delicious, regularly changing, inovative, menus. A visit to Frocks is consistantly fabulous, the owners and staff are friendy and welcoming, food - enough said - wine list basic, accessible yet well considered and reefined enough. We are so lucky to have this on our doorstep, but PLEASE venture out and book a table at Frocks, it rocks!

My wife and I have been visiting Frocks for 14months and without exception have never had a bad experience, quite the contrary I would say the restaurant improves every time, this young couple have taken a huge gamble in venturing into the restaurant business and I think they should be congratulated on its huge success. We continue to enjoy their relaxed yet professional approach and find the quality of food and choice of wine FANTASTIC!I enjoyed my birthday lunch at Frocks on christmas eve with ten friends all of whom loved the place, one couple own The White Horse in Harpenden with Jean Christophe Novelli and they were full of compliments.

Well done to evrybody at Frocks.

the perfect local restaurant. went there most recently with my folks after a drunken birthday night out. despite my shatteringly fragile condition had a really good posh sunday lunch. the people that run it have nailed the right level of (in-)formal friendliness, food/wine is consistently good... service, atmosphere everything 'works' really well.

most recommended (and for those not fortunate to live nearby, worth the trek to E9).

I hadn't been to Frocks in a year having moved away from the area, but was delighted to find it was still worth making the journey for my birthday meal this month.

My boyfriend and I were warmly greeted by the owner, and then to my suprise a lovely bunch of flowers were brought to me: my boyfriend had organised for the restaurant to take the flowers from a local florists despite their not being open at the time of delivery!

The food was fabulous throughout. We strated with a deliciously rich chicken liver pate, followed by the most ridiculously large and tender beef wellington (it was so good I had to find out where the meat came from: Wells street market - I shall be making the trip!) all washed down with a really good bottle of syrah- one of the cheapest wines on list, but excellent quality. And then the last course... being a huge cheese lover, I nearly fell off my chair with glee when I was presented with a 'cheese menu', not only listing the 8 or so choices, but also the flavour, texture and source/ producer of the cheese. A truly delightful experience, friendly (it was the managers wife's birthday too and she found time to come and chat!)and absolutely reasonably priced for the outstanding quality. GO THERE!

I always like to review a restaurant, bar resort before I go there to see what I am in for and frocks was no exception. this place has to be one of the most talked about places, for all the right reasons. I was very happy with the whole experience. I took my pal with me and we have to say it was an evening to remember. we could not fault anything. the service may seemed a little slow, but it was nice you feel they not rushing to get you out, you do truely feel at home and it was a very busy monday night. i loved the duck dish and the parfait, it was the best I have had in a long time. i have read some of the reviews of this restaurant and there seems to be a struggle between reviewers, all i can say is that it was my first time and for those who have never tried you just have too.

I come here every other week with friends as we love Frocks and the team who work there, so we like to show our appreciation. I have just read the comments from 'Tufty' about frocks being too 'commercial' and would like to reply. If you think that more customers and a happy uplifting atmosphere is commercial then commercial it is. Frocks used to be very fuddy duddy but now it is a place were you get a toatl mix of people yet it still has that intimate and relaxed feel to it, which is why I go there. I get that everyone has their owns views but I dont agree with it being veiwed as commercial, its just a great, pleasant and friendly place to eat.

just had our christmas party here for the second year running and what a fantastic time it was. The turkey was perfect and the sticky toffee pud was as good as gran's. I am not a local resident I only work around the park but if I had a place like this on my door step I would be there every night iwithout a doubt. try it out.
